Loading Problems

O.k i've a problem with my third age it started with downloading the MOS submod and of course that didnt work, then deleted MOS and then vanilla third age wouldnt work so i deleted that. So then i deleted everything to do with the third age mod and REdownloaded it twice both to have the same error.

ERROR: When i open the third age icon on my desktop it loads for about ten seconds showing me the third age total war screen saver with the version 3.2 about the right hand side, then it just exits back to my desktop with no explanation, no error log or anything. it doesnt get to the menu or anything like that

it worked before i downloaded MOS and now it wont, i'm really close to just giving up.
Its the CD version/to my knowledge i havent any patches for kingdoms, disabled daylight savings time
Should i reinstall M2TW and kingdoms and third age?
Quick help would be greatly appreciated !!!!!!!!!

It is important to know have you disabled UAC BEFORE installing TATW?

If you did disable UAC before installing TATW, do this:

If you did not disable UAC before installing TATW, do this:

You will have to reinstall TATW I`m affraid . Follow these steps:

THIS IS IMPORTANT: disable UAC (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...59#post8287059) go to section `How to fix it` and apply step 3.

Now procced to this down:

You have to reinstall TATW ( but first uninstall MOS of course by using START \ All Programs\ MOS v1.4\ Uninstall MOS v1.4), then uninstall TATW by using Control Panel Uninstall program, after that, delete Third_Age_3 folder in C:\ ..\SEGA\Medieval 2 Total War\mods ( or if it was installed somewhere els, delete it there) and in virtual store C:\Users\[user name or your PC`s name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files(x?)\Medieval 2 Total War\mods (if u can`t find it, then it is hidden, so follow this How to Unhide hidden folders on Windows: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...59#post8287059).

After deleting these Third_Age_3 folders( if there were any), and disabling UAC, click on TATW 3.0 part 1 of 2 installer, when it asks you where to install it, if you know the CORRECT path where you installed Medieval 2 Total War and it is the same as the installer points you to by default( C:\ Program Files (x86)\ SEGA\ Medieval 2 Total War ), then procced with installing.

If you installed in another place, then browse the installer to the Medieval 2 Total War folder.

Then install TATW 3.0 part 2 of 2 using the SAME installing path, and I would advise you to install TATW 3.1 patch (using the SAME installing path ofcourse) and then try the game does it work, and can you open campaigns, for battle crashes disable daylight savings (Using Windows 7, 8 or Vista: Control panel > Date and time > Change time zone > uncheck "Automatically adjust clock for Daylight Saving Time").

If TATW 3.1 works, procced with installing TATW 3.2 patch (using the SAME installing path ofcourse).

Then Install MOS in your Third_Age_3 folder ( I would advise you to run all MOS Installers as Administrator).

Be sure to check the INSTALLATION PATHS CAREFULLY.

I'm trying my best to find this but can't is it in program files(x86) or program files?

If you are talking about Virtual Store, then it should be in Program Files(x86) if you installed your Medieval 2 TW into it`s default installation path ( C:\ Program Files (x86)\ SEGA\ Medieval 2 Total War).

Delete Third_Age_3 folder in Virtual Store C:\ Users\ [user name or your PC`s name]\ AppData\ Local\ VirtualStore\ Program Files(x86)\ Medieval 2 Total War\ mods

Plus the last two time i've downloaded the mod it didnt ask me to select a destination, it was already selected this wouldnt be a problem would it?

Why are you deleting downloads? You just have to delete the files I told you about( Third_Age_3 folder where you installed TATW, and the one in Virtual store if you had it there), you don`t have to delete Third Age Installers which you downloaded.

Usually it gives you default destination to install it to, if you have installed your M2TW somewhere els than the Installers point you to, then you use that BROWSE and select that other path where you installed M2TW to.

Sorry i meant uninstalling them like the link said too. Ya thats what happens i saved it into the advised place.

No dice guys, exact same problem when its loading it just goes dark for a few seconds and then its back at the desktop screen with no explanation or error message.
Could it be that i'm not fully uninstalling it before i reinstall? One thing i noticed while downloading the 3.1 patch it took literally less than ten seconds to download while the 3.2 patch took 6 minutes? Could there be something wrong here?

Where is your Medieval 2 TW installed? Tell us the exact path.
And how big are the patches you downloaded (in MB)?

M2TW is installed into program files(x86) sega Medieval 2 total war. the 3.1 patch is 5.32mb while 3.2 patch is 217mb (thats hardly right?)
But i just realised that the patches are not in the location above there in my download folder, would that effect the game.
There is program files(x86)/sega/Medieval 2 total war/mods/third_age_3 but that only contains 6 files which are Data, Preferences, Icon, TATW.cfg, TATW_3_0_unit_stats, and Third Age.
But nothing else should the patches been in here along with 3.0 part one and two?

Your patches are the right size.
Your M2TW looks installed into the default folder.

1. You have Kingdoms expansion installed too? Only one campaign is enough to play Third Age TW.
2. Have you run those patches and installed them into this folder of yours where your M2TW is installed: program files(x86)/sega/Medieval 2 total war ?

All Third Age Installers need to be run and installed into this folder ( C:\ Program Files(x86)\ SEGA\ Medieval 2 Total War).
If just one of those big ones, Third Age 3.0 part 1 and part 2, wasn`t installed into this folder, your game won`t run.

I suggest reinstall Third Age ( delete manually Third_Age_3 folder after uninstalling Third Age) and this time, be sure to check the Installation paths carefully.

When u say run the patches what do u mean?

Double mouse click on the Installers so you can open them and start with Installation.
