XBOX 360 troubles.

I just got this 360 back from my brother and for some reason the video doesn't work at all..

I hear sound but the screen just stays black or blue, depending on the tv i connect it to. Also I tried calling MS and they send me a 2nd AV cable that gave the same results. I'm going to attempt to call them again, i'm just wondering if anyone has any other ideas I could try?

I tried several TVs and the switch on the av cable is set to TV, not hdtv.

XBOX 360's can only run on TV's that use 80hrtz or over, are your sure yours is capable?

It worked on this tv before.

I'll explain more. He is in the navy and he had to go to pensacola for training, instead of bringing it with him he kept it here. The week before he brought it for the weekend and it worked fine. So I know it used to work, and I know it works on these tvs. I was thinking either he had it on an hdtv, so their was some kind of setting i dont know, or he damaged it when he was brining it around.

Are you using the video cable that has both the HD and regular connections? If so, there is a little switch on the cable where it connects to the back of your XBOX 360. Check to make sure that that switch is not set for HDTV, and that it is set for a regular TV.

Yes its switched right, and i know its plugged in correctly. The MS people went through that with me.

Do you have another TV you can try it on? Maybe the problem is with your TV.

I tried several tvs + a vcr and a dvd player.

edit: it worked before, so it can't be the tv.

So it worked with all your TVs but now it doesn't work at all. Are you sure you haven't changed any settings on your TVs or anything.

You have a bad AV cable for your 360. But apparently they sent you a new one? If that is the case, then call them up again.

ya, i called MS and they are going to fix it. I hope he didn't break it otherwise its probably not going to be coverd by warentee and he has to pay for it.

My TVs are quite old so theirs no real settings besides what "line" or channel its on and it worked on them fine before so its definately something wrong with the console.
