Innocence of Muslims officialy banned in Russian Federation

The controversial amateur film “Innocence of Muslims” is now officially banned in Russia. A Moscow District court has put it on the Federal list of extremist-content materials, Russia’s Ministry of Justice has released today.

The list is maintained by the Ministry of Justice and based on copies of courts’ decisions declaring that an informational material as having extremist content.
If put on the list, the material is officially banned for distribution in the country. It was outlawed by the ruling of a Moscow court on October 1, 2012. The court deemed the “Innocence of Muslims” as an extremist film after it triggered a wave of violent protests in the Middle East, prompting the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office to apply for a ban on it in Russia.
A psycho-linguistic expertise proved the US-made film was aimed at “inciting hate and mocking people’s nationality and their beliefs.”

Terrible no matter what way you look at it.

If you look at it as a "the rights of the producer, freedom of expression etc." well... they banned the film. So you won't be happy.

If you look at it from the "This is offensive rubbish, ban it" point of view I'd imagine you'd probably be miffed that Russia waited until the controversy was over and everyone stopped talking about the video to ban it (and remind the public that it exists).

Good work Russia. Now nobody is happy.

They outlawed it earlier and in last days only confirmed that by official ban list.

Am I the only one that sees this guy just tries to pick a fight with Muslims? He knows the West is pro-freedom of speech, he knows barely anyone here has seen the film/knows his contents.

This has nothing to do with religion, the content of the film might be 'religious' (even though it is commonly accepted the director just tried to rustle the jimmy's of Muslims), it's about the freedom of speech, producing doubtful material. It's not some movie, but very hatery film. And many of Russian Federation citizens are muslims. So it's good that russian government protects rights of its people.
