Age of Empires 2 Forgotten Empires RELEASED!

Dear Age of Empires 2 fans, i bring great news, a modding team have released an unofficial expansion of aoe2. After so many years some people have discovered how to add completely new civilizations. This mod adds five new civs, new units, techs and some other things and also new campaigns in the future.

the civs are: incas, indians of india, italians, magyars, slavs

Oh man, have been looking forward to this for a while and have not been disappointed, been loving playing the Magyars, I've heard them aptly described as the ultimate Black Forest civilization and so far, that's been pretty spot on.

I gave this a go. My AoE skills from my childhood seem to have left me however.

I've also noticed an infuriating bug with my scouts, where usually shift clicking sets sequential destinations; but these are always ignored. Anyone else getting it?

This would be cool, but they don't even realise that many of these factions are already in the game. Lombards settled in Italy... what's the point of having Italians as well? Just another name for Lombards?

In this release there is a campaign about Alaric but it is made of only one scenario; they have said that they will release other campaigns in the future, i have read somewhere a Francesco Sforza campaign. The LOTR conversion is good but for now it's only a beta.

To make sure your scout follows the orders, the last click should not be made with shift held down, not sure why this is, but it works for me.

AO2 is obsolete technically. Make a conversion for AO3 instead

Well, AO2 was my childhood, as it probably was for many here. I still remember my friend Brendan showing me and the guys the game in the 1st grade.

Would be nice if they would patch the game a bit to make all the existing factions more unique. Like replacing some names and appearances for faction groups. That way knights would be reserved for european factions and others could get "heavy cavalry" or a "lancer" instead. stats could remain the same, but it would look different and have a different name. Huns could also be assigned the eastern buildstyle since the northern buildstyle just seems wrong for them.

Yes i thought about this thing many times; for example aztecs and mayans have a different monk model but the stats are the same and also in star wars galactic battlegrounds every faction has almost the same units but they have different models. It would be a great addon for aoe2 but i think it would be a titanic work. We can oly hope someone will do this in the future.
