Hey all, nothing real big here (not even sure if it constitutes as a mod to be honest), but I love realism in games like this, so I decided to edit the unit stats to fit my playstyle. I originally did this as a personal thing, but I've seen things like this requested before, so I've decided to save everyone who wants this a little bit of time & effort.
FRoGS 3.2 is a great megamod compiled by David93 that adds many new units to the game.
This could make your game significantly easier (for those of you who like huge archer units) or significantly more difficult. Either way, you'll probably be taking a lot more losses on the battlefield. Just a warning.
The main thing this does is make it so that ground troops are killed quickly, as they would be in real life, by raising the attack stats of all units. Personally, I think this makes the game much more fun to not have troops whacking each other for several minutes before anyone goes down.
This usually makes for quicker battles as well, which can be a good thing if you're the type that doesn't like waiting 2 hours for your battle to finish.
Note about beasts:
In a battle between 7 Gondor units (roughly 700-750 men) vs 1 unit of trolls, about 80 men were slain before the trolls were defeated.
In a battle between 7 Gondor units vs 1 unit of Mumakil, about 350 men were slain before the Mumakil were defeated.
The Balrog is near unkillable; it is able to be defeated, but be prepared to lose a ton of men in the process. Afterall, you probably wouldn't stand much of a chance against a gigantic ancient beast of Udun either!
Be sure to make a backup before installing!
How to install:
1. Download one of the attached files
2. Once the file is downloaded, place it in your Third Age data folder (Default is C:\Program Files (x86)\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\Third_Age_3\data)
3. Choose "Yes" when it asks if you want to replace the previous file
4. That's it! Have fun!
I believe this should also work for vanilla TATW, but I'm not 100% certain, so if someone wants to try this one out with vanilla, let me know if this works.![]()
