    Default Christian celibacy

OK I was raised an Anglican. My ministers had wives. They always did.

What sort of dubious system would demand that a man go celibate? The Bible doesn't demand it. It says if a man can do it, then he should do it. But if he can't do it, don't do it. Marry a woman and raise fine children.

Here we seem to have a system in which various men of various mental ruminations get to decide whether or not they qualify as celibates or not. Men who in the end fail.

So a man-made system is constructed in which idiots have control over their own desires, but pretend all the while they are too pure to crack a fat.

Some little girl sits on their lap and it is all over. They're 30 years old, they've never known a woman, and some innocent kid just happens to titillate their balls by accident by hopping on their knee.

Pray tell me how celibacy has ever helped humankind?

Pray tell me how having a wife and children is somehow lesser than being a strange solo-masturbator who won't admit it?

Pray tell me how such despicable acts have become the face of the church for millions of people seeking answers? Pray tell me why anybody would stick up for them? Pray tell me why the hell they are trying to restrain their urges in the first place unless specifically directed to do so for some real reason?

And we wonder why Protestants and Catholics went to war. You are embarrassing us.

Can't answer the others, but the last one "why Protestants and Catholics went to war. You are embarrassing us" makes me wonder... The Anglican Church (GB) teamed up with the Protestants plenty of times against the Catholics (Ireland for example, Battle of the Boyne). So, you, as a member of the Anglican Church, can't point fingers and claim to have the higher morale ground.

As a member of the Anglican church I am not some physical knight who believes the Queen has anymore access to God than me.

Now, let's make peace and ignore the fighting of the past. Let's actually talk about what is happening now. Or would you rather redirect? What is happening now is that many millions of people think Christians are pedophiles. I didn't cause this. My people didn't cause this.

    You did.

    Your church did.

    Explain yourself.

Or do you need a bishop to tell the truth?

    Answer.

Haven't you seen my posting around here? I am a former protestant* and I currently have an atheistic view with no connection or collective sense toward anyone sharing my belief or any other belief.

*I don't recall any stories about protestant priests or bishops being paedophiles in recent times, they are allowed to marry like the Anglican ones.

Nope, I prefer to speak my own mind, instead of relaying something others have said. That is usually the way of a religious person, not the way of an enlightened mind.

Anyways, I'm not all that surprised priests would do something to children if they are taught celibacy is good, is wrong,... That's what you get when you supress sexual urges.

Look not above, there is no answer there; Pray not, for no one listens to your prayer; Near is as near to God as any Far, And Here is just the same deceit as There.

And do you think that unto such as you; A maggot-minded, starved, fanatic crew: God gave the secret, and denied it me?-- Well, well, what matters it! Believe that, too.

"Did God set grapes a-growing, do you think, And at the same time make it sin to drink? Give thanks to Him who foreordained it thus-- Surely He loves to hear the glasses clink!" Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam

If you're a sex-deprived old wrinkly bastard, and you touch my daughter, I will kill you.

    As a Christian.

You deserve it. That is the law. Suck it up.

Why don't you just turn the other cheek, instead? Personal revenge is not part of any civilized law.

I am ashamed to be a Christian.

It seems hundreds or even thousands of kids were molested by s with immediate authority.

Hey, Pope you old , send their names to the authorities?

Oh no we can't do that. Our culture of kiddy-fiddling is more important than any non-kiddy-fiddler out there.

This thread isn't helping your cause... It would do more, if you make a sign about it and stand in St. Peter's Square... I'm not sure, how the Swiss Guard would respond, but it might make for some decent entertainment on the news channels.

Become an atheist then... With an atheistic view, there is no collective sense of unity.

The op doesn't leave much room for reasoned discussion or debate. Thread closed.
