Default [HS] The New Fire and Blood PLAYTEST Hotseat [Fire and Blood 0.6 BETA]

THE NEW FIRE AND BLOOD PLAYTEST HOTSEAT

    "TNFABPH"

Experienced Players Sought for Playtest Hotseat with Additional Rules

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION: ALL PLEASE READ
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    Hello all.

There is already one Fire and Blood 0.6 hotseat but I think it would be VERY valuable for me to have a second hotseat running for the purpose of not only having fun slaughtering each-other in droves peacefully co-existing for the good of Westeros, but also to test balance and to try and tone-down any overpowered factions (Hightower, for example.)

This hotseat will use the 0.6 version. It does not matter if you have Prophet's handy battlemodels/banners patch loaded, as this will not interfere with the hotseat gameplay. All you need is a CLEAN 0.6 install (No modifications to descr_strat or campaign_script).

As this hotseat is designed to TEST balance in the game, modifications may be made during the course of the game to try and achieve a balanced state of play - that is that no faction holds a game-changing advantage DUE TO GAME MECHANICS - A player who is successful in leading their faction to glory will not be penalised.

The first of these modifications relates to balancing finances - The second to forts and sieges

    • House Hightower will receive a financial cut
    • House Lannister will receive a small financial boost
    • House Redwyne will receive a small financial boost
    • House Tyrell will receive a small financial boost

    • House Tully will receive a financial cut
    • House Baratheon of CL will receive a small financial cut
    • A settlement is counted as 'defended' ONLY if it holds a number of units equal to the number of 'free upkeep' units allowed by it's walls. Units below half-strength for their respective unit type do not count towards this number, unless combined they form the required number of men necessary.
    • To besiege a 'defended' settlement or castle, the besieger must have a force greater than or equal to DOUBLE the number of free-upkeep units allowed. If the settlement does not meet the previous condition, it is not counted as 'defended' and can be besieged as normal (Think Theon taking a poorly manned Winterfell)
    • Forts must be garrisoned by at least THREE units. Units below half-strength for their respective unit type do not count towards this minimum, unless combined their numbers make up the number of men for three full units or more.

Future changes may be made only in situations where a faction is clearly overpowered or under-powered due to 0.6B game mechanics rather than in-game situations.

    MAIN RULES

    • Pm or VM the next player that it is their turn.
    • First turn peace This does not apply to House Targaryen
    • No destroying buildings in an under siege settlement. At all other times it is allowed, except in the case of cities, fortresses, or citadels.
    • No assassinations of Faction Leaders and heirs. All other characters may be assassinated.
    • No bug abuse! When you think someone has used a bug report it here and the admin will look into it.
    • No sailing from a blockaded port without first defeating the blockading ships.
    • No sallying forth in a siege to deny your besieger the opportunity to sack your settlement.
    • Post pictures of battle odds, and results. It is advised to hide everything else, especially the mini map and your finances.
    • Armies defeated by a player (b) that comes after the original player (a)'s turn cannot move next turn, so if Tyrell defeats a Lannister army that army cannot move next turn. - Exception: Reinforcing armies in defense, even if defeated, don't lose movement points. So player 'a' should be allowed to move the army that reinforced another while in a fort and was defeated by 'b'.
    • Settlements gifted should disband all units save one.
    • NO heroic victories

Glad to have you on board

I was considering a rule regarding bannermen - It would be weird for Stark to attack Bolton for no reason on turn two. However, I could not devise a rule which would be both realistic and not overly prohibitive.

I think that Tullys are overpowered in this mod. They income is about 7k from the start.

Tully is still surrounded by 2 bannermen that have low loyalty, however you are right, they are more powerful in this scenario then Clash of kings. Saltpans, Maidenpool are hard defended against Darry rebelions and then their income is low again!

Also remember Harrenhall and Oldstones are both 'ruins' that are vulnerable until repaired sapping some income.

Tully have a much better starting position in FaB as they have a fertile and populous land across which rivers alow the flow of goods and trade. This is in stark contrast to normal Westeros where Tully has already been defeated at the Golden Tooth and Stoney Sept and their land pillaged.

Tyrell should not fare too badly in this hotseat. They have been balanced a little by recouping some of the wealth of the reach away from House Hightower.

They gained Lord Hewett's Town on the shield islands, a small navy, and if the South (Yronwood, Martell, Redwyne, Hightower) allies with the Targs then Tyrell tends to come out on top against Lannister.

My way of playtesting this hotseat is to run my own hotseat game where I control every faction. Tyrell has almost always come out on top against Lannister and Tully, but is then defeated in the East by Baratheon... The main challenge for Tyrell is to play a good diplomatic game.

Then again, I have always played the scenario with the same factions in the same alliance. I have not tried things with a Targ-Loyalist Tully, or a Baratheon-Loyalist Tyrell.
