    Icon3 generals/admirals/both

so i've been playing Shogun 2 again and i notice how i hate how they made a general the admiral too since i wanted to transport a full stack but couldn't since i had a general/admiral in my navy so i had to either leave a unit behind or separate my navy.....and i didn't want to..... so it got me thinking that i really like how they did it with empire and napoleon how the admiral stayed in the ship and it was represented in the campaign map and usually your admiral had the best ship but in Shogun 2 you can't even pick which ship your general/admiral is in (though they usually are on the best one) and another thing is how in Shogun 2 you have to wait to get the little pop-up of having someone interested in serving you but in empire and napoleon if you needed someone you just have to buy them...

so, do you like how they did things in Shogun 2 and want CA to keep this method with Rome 2 or do you like the Empire/Nappy method best and would like to see this in Rome 2, or your own method??

You should just have one admiral for the entire navy, or you just get an admiral when the fight happens, based on past battle results.

In the ancient era there were all round commanders, only in the 1600s did they make the separation between generals and admirals.
I voted like in Shogun 2.

well in my opinion important characters of the noble class should be able to participate in many disciplines. Family members should be able to be generals, governors, admirals, diplomats, and politicians. They should go back to the different attributes for family members such as Command, Influence, and Management.

The lower class agent should be able to act as a spy, arson, assassin, and secret police.

These should be only these two classes in R2TW.

I agree with this idea completely. If you want a general to be an admiral, that's great, he gives up his bodyguard and boards the ship. If you want him to be a general again, he reforms his bodyguard and joins a unit stack. Same thing with the lower class agents. +rep, I love this idea.

I think for Rome 2 it should stay similar to how it was in Shogun 2, as at this time there were no dedicated admirals really, during naval campaigns generals just commanded the fleets.

so you guys want it like Shogun 2 because its historically accurate should the general/admiral take a slot in the navy or should it "merge" with one of the boats until its there?? (though seeing as how we have transports this might change somehow) and lastly do you guys agree with the Shogun 2 method of acquiring generals (to be available randomly) or do you like the Empire/Nappy method of buying generals??

I would rather promote unit commanders, or maybe have retinue who are actually real people can be sent to do jobs for the faction leader. I would however like retinue to be fairly random like it was in RTW. I didn't like it restricted to 3 and you had to pick and choose between 2. It almost seemed restrictive.

poll looks tide with Empire/Nappy and Shogun 2 options and i also like the idea of promoting officers rather than having to buy them like in M2TW when i won a battle without a general a little pop-up would appear asking me if i wanted to promote the guy and that was a cool feature i would like to see again

Well, I voted like in Shogun 2 because in those days, there was no real distinction between general and admiral. You can think for instance at the naval battle of Actium where Mark Antony led his navy himself and did not appoint an admiral to do the naval fighting in his stead.

On the other hand, I wouldn't mind it if they brought back Empire/Napoleon's system of dedicated admirals, as it worked quite well gameplay-wise :-)

Shogun 2 is much more simple. I prefer that, for gameplay reasons. No point having 10 BAD generals who never commanded a single man and a shortage of admirals.

this is what i would like to see... a general becoming part of the navy he is in not taking a units slot but once he moves to the army then he gets his old bodyguard and joins that battle...or maybe have it like for example if the general is rank 6 and he joins a navy then whatever boat he's in that boat turns into a rank 6 signifying the generals bodyguard being present and fighting like the ship crew?? what you guys think...
