The question... the ultimate question... the ultimate nerd question... Which is better Star Wars or Star Trek? Yes i'm feeling like a geek today. Personally I prefer Star Wars because I like the concept of that sort of dirty 'used' future over the bright sterilized chrome of Star Trek, because Star Destroyers are just so much cooler than The Enterprise and Jedi, 'nuff said.

I'm going with Star Wars. Watching Star Trek feels like a soap opera for nerds, just as professional wrestling is a soap opera big retarded rednecks. Star Wars has guns and lasers being shot off all the time, in between the lightsaber battles and little green men that talk in a hilarious backwards fashion. Star Trek, has the occasional shooting of a wussy phaser, whatever the hell that is. I prefer action and explosions with gun and sword battles, as opposed to storylines(which are more feminine thing...).

If you want storylines, go read a book. If you want to actually be entertained, then watch the Star Wars movies(but not #4/5).

Or if you want further proof, who is honestly the cooler character, Captain Kirk(man with speech impediment), or Darth Vader(super-villain capable of choking you with his mind).

Exactly, I mean come on, who's more threatening, aliens with bad make up heads or warriors armed with swords that can cut through anything and psionic abilities that make them able to shoot lighting at you and crush your larnyx with their mind.

'Wars. For the aforementioned reasons and because there's no clear-cut good-and-evil. It's very abiguous, like a greek tragedy. Far more philosophical and ingtriguing than the simplicity of Star Trek.

Star Wars. Star Trek is too utopian and bland for my taste.

    "Oh look, a new alien."
"No, that's a human with pointy ears."

People might disagree with me, but most of the characters are paper thin. The same could be said about Star Wars, but it's got the cool factor, and is slightly gritty imo, though not excessively so.

so far im the only one who voted star trek, this question is very abstract but i say star trek mostly cause its more politically stable and technology is more advanced (if its universe vs. universe star trek would be friggin teleporting droves of people into space)

I love them both. I didn't vote because I just can't make that kind of decision.

What Episodes 4, 5, and 6 have in sheer action, ambiance, and great music, Star Trek: TNG and DS9 have just as much in the way of great character development and interesting sub-plots. Yes, Star Trek is like a soap opera, but it is a soap opera with actors like Michael Dorn and Patrick Stewart wielding Bat'leths and saying "Kaplaa!". And who could forget Odo's trials with the Dominion, or Commander Riker's brush with the power of the Q. :original:

Emperor Palpatine: "Good. I can feel your anger. I am defenseless. Take your weapon - strike me down with all of your hatred, and your journey to the Dark Side will be complete!"

Emperor Palpatine: "Young fool. Only now, at the end, do you understand."

Obi-Wan Kenobi: "Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our point of view."

Master Yoda: "When nine-hundred years old you reach, look this good you will not, hmmm? *cough*"

    ******

Lieutenant Commander Worf: "I do not play with toys."

Jean-Luc Picard: "I'd be delighted to offer any advice I have on understanding women. When I have some, I'll let you know."

Jean-Luc Picard: "I refuse to believe that the afterlife is run by you, Q. The universe is not so badly designed!"

    Peace be with you. :original:

Gogoas they wouldn't because of the Prime Directive!

THATS why Star Wars is better, they don't have some "don't ruin a culture" they blow them up instead BOOYAH!

Anyway another mega nerdy quest Original Trilogy or Prequals?

the borg and klingons don't have a prime directive.

thats why it depends if you mean star trek universe versus star wars universe, or federation vs. republic

    if you mean universe then...

Original is good all through, but the prequels are very good, IMHO. Episode III just kicks ass because it ends with the jedi finally brought to justice and the Empire is formed.
Episodes IV and V are my favorites, though, so I guess Original Trilogy.

I've never really watched Star Trek, I never had any inclination to do so; it still looks stupid to me. Star Wars is terrific though. I'm not one of those "SW nerds," but I used to like the movies quite a lot and still consider them classics.

I'm a fan of both but voted Star Wars. When I was growing up Star Trek is what you watched in between Star Wars films heh. I'm not trying to take anything away from Star Trek though, great series except for Voyager and Enterprise.
