    Default Don't be jealous...

But i'm getting to play the game next week at a press event.

Believe it or not, I'm a freelance games-journalist and am invited to do an interview and to see and play the game.

Now, i won't make any promises, but what things would you like me to check out/ask?

    wow thats cool.

Id like to request if you have some spare time after youve playtested the game, to contact Evariste who organises the TWC Podcast on a weekly basis. An audio interview with someone who has played the game would be very interesting indeed, and im sure Evariste would agree

Hmm, how does the "mission" system in this one work? Is it as annoying as the senate?

And a question for the Devs if they don't chuck you out; will they be more mod friendly this time?

    Hi Smoke.

This is a question for custom/ multiplayer battles:

In Medieval 1 there was a system what gives a florin penalty to recruiting too many units of the same type.

We know the Eras System will return with medieval 2, but do this economic penalty system also will return ?

    Thanks.

Hard-coded limits. Can we have 30 factions or not?

    Release date. :original:

    Demo. :original:

    System Specs.

More info regarding cities vs. castles.

Those are the ones I can think off. You probably won't get an detailed answer (it is too early for that, I reckon), but "not asking, not getting". :original:

Okay, good ones. Please keep in mind that i write for a broad audience, so i won't be asking questions along the lines of 'will you be correcting the colour of the crusader's coats?'

If you actually get to play a battle, then you should tell us how the AI is compared to RomeTW.
I mean things like men not turning around when they hear a thunderous charge or warcry, versus the back row turning to face a charging unit when the front is already in combat with another.
Also, I want to know what sorts of formations are available, and if the AI can really use them.
You should also check out the cavalry to see if the men's feet go inside the horse's ribs rather than alongside them. It annoys me in RTW - soldiers really becoming centaurs because their legs go inside the horse.

Hmm... I should take up freelance journalism for one day.
Quite generous of you to come here on the forum and ask what we want to see. Much appreciated!

Personally, I would like to see how cavalry charges work (are they more/less powerful; do they actually work now, as opposed to just stopping when the first 5 guys hit the line, ie. do they keep going when first having charged?)
How's the performance? FPS and etc. (I know it's an early build, but I think people would like to see how it performs on different machines at the moment)
If you get to try the campaign map, how are movement points? Are they increased? How are ship battles?
Haha, can't really think of anything more at the moment. Strange, there's probably a hundred things I'm wondering about, but I can't remember now.

I'm actually more interested in your own general impression, really. All these details don't really matter in the long run. So I guess the most important question is, does the game FEEL right? Does it feel more solid and well developed than RTW? Is it a worthy successor? (Based on what you see of course, and the fact that it's an early build)

I would like you to find out whether all soldiers in a unit try to move around their target and attack or if they just stand there and wait for the front line to fall before they do anything, like they did in RTW. In that game, you could have 120 soldiers fighting 60 and only the first 20 or so of those 120 were actually engaging. The rest were just in the back, walking around as if confused.

Also, try to find out whether the annoyances with charging in RTW have been fixed, whether killing routers is a real babysitting job like in RTW, and wether if a cavalry unit is ordered to go from point A to point B and there are spearmen in the way, do they run right into the spearmen or do the attempt to go around them?

Moreover, do the accents of the non-English countries sound hilarious or are they alright? Are the city layouts less frustrating and repetitive, and more logical? Are sieges fun?

Things like these would be very interesting to know.

I must second the "how does it feel" request.
    :hmmm:
If you can battle, then how does it tactical part feel? Do unit speeds seem to fast or to slow? How does the kill rate feel, to fast or to slow?

Of course more details on the differences between castles and cities to please.

I'd like if you could reveal what is going on with the Americas (i.e., whether the aztecs are playable, how you get to the americas).

    Thanks

Lots of good questions here already so i'll just keep it simple and ask that you tell us all about how you thought it was. If you think the new world feature works good and the AI is as good on the battlefield as it is on the campaign map. Please be a good boy and post as much of the interviou as you can

I can't wait to hear what you have to say when you get back.

Hi Smoke. Nice of you to pop by. As Narakir said, could you try to get a feel for the diplomacy changes? From what we've heard so far it is going to be one of the main areas of progress in M2TW compared to RTW. If you get to try it out, this is something I'm sure your readers will be interested in as much as I! Have fun.

Faction limit. Can't stress that enough. Very important for modding.
