Title says it all.
Around turn 40 in my SE campaign, I checked in the diplomacy and everybody is so-so or worse. HE and Rohan are those, other good factions are poor, Dwarves are very poor, OOTMM are abysmal and all others are terrible. I'm not allying with anyone other than HE and Rohan are only that high (yeah) because I gifted to them. I only own Thranduil's halls to Dol Guldur and Beorn's halls to Limlight Fort. The only trespassing I've done was when I had an army in Grey Mountains and Dwarves invaded and I built a fort on the border of Rhun (though they didn't complain at the time.)

I can't think of anything else I have done to annoy anybody else.

First of all you should avoid transpassing.
Secondly the first thing you should do is send a diplomat to the factions near you (you can easily start with Dale and Dwarves if you have SE) and ask them for trade rights. Every faction will accept this if you haven't done anything horrible to them. With succesfull propositions your diplomats will getter and better traits, making you capable to move to the next level which can be some form of alliance.
Start with "trade rights" in any case and then to some "map information" with some cash if you want to get allied.
In the bottom of the dialogue box of the negotiations you can see if your proposal seems benefitial for the faction you re negotiating with, so if the odds are against you, just withdraw before you make it

If you expand other factions by default will react negative towards you, so that might be a reason (all get suspicious towards an ambitious leader/folk hehe).

Then also trade with factions may cause negative reutation.
For example Gondor will like you less if you have a trade agreement with Mordor since Mordor is their enemy.

Rohan is not always friendly towards elves because of the shared borders and maybe also the different culture. Just attack some common enemies and there are good chances to make things better.

@chriskourou - the first trespass was completely not my fault. How was I to know Dwarves would attack Dain's Halls then?

@Ngugi - I'm still at war with Mordor from the beginning. This can only apply to Dale and Dwarves through Rhun but Dwarves hate me anyway.

@parademed - Rohan are angels compared the other factions. Compared to every campaign I've ever played, they are vaguely annoying.

@altimis - My diplomat has the would-be-servant trait. The description of this basically says he is so quick to judge, he could become one of Sauron's servants. -3 influence. And he got it while on a mission in Gondor. Typical.

4 posts on advice and they're almost completely irrelevant. Thanks anyway, but tbh, if the HE don't accept my alliance then I'll have to finish my domination with kinslaying. It seriously may come to that.

Attacking common enemies does wonder with the relation. Trade rights is good too. Maybe you can get cash for trade-rights. Just repeating what others have said here.

Dude, every faction follows an almost certain route. If you have played several campaings you should know that. So usually Dwarves attack Dain's Halls, harad attack Linhir etc. All the advice given is 100% relevant.

If it helps, send a diplomat to all of your neighbors and offer them a small sum+ map information every turn or so. Tedious, but I find it helps keep relations up.

Also yes, learning the AIs expansion patterns is useful. If you take an area that they AI naturally expands to it is pretty much guaranteed to start a war. Taking it and then giving it to them however...very good for relations!

That has reminded me of one trick but I am not sure about it:
If you offer something very expensive for very small price, AI will like you a lot.
Take a guess how much money the AI has and offer your biggest city for that sum +1. Although AI will not be able to make the deal, it will still love you for the proposition alone. I believe it can be repeated but I do not know if in the same turn.

- Relations with other factions will go up if you're more 'Trustworthly', so get a chivalrous faction leader and don't exterminate settlements (occupy is best) and don't use assassins!
- Try to gift money, minor settlements and "attack faction" if you're going to attack their enemies within 15 turns.
- Get alliance in exchange for a settlement or money.
- First get your standings up, then propose treaties. If they decline your treaties, your standing with them will go down. If they 'Barely accept' the relation also goes down. So watch the meter and propose 'Generous' offers.
- Attack their enemies.
- Give settlements the faction needs as a victory condition.
- Don't make treaties with the bad guys.
- When an offer is declined the next proposal will not be considered. Unless it's a gift! So give 100 florins and continue.
- Proposing (very) generous offers makes your reputation go up regardless of denial. Combining an alliance offer with quite some cash and 100 florin trick, you can make reputation go up to perfect in 1 turn cheaply. Most of the time they'll only accept alliance when Perfect, regardless of 'generosity' of the offer which is good for this purpose.

Most of it has already been said, but this should provide a decent overvieuw. I always have great relations to all good factions and a good global standing.

Even things like map info + 5900 (at least) for map info didn't work with Rohan. They accepted it but they didn't like it. HOW IS THAT UNLIKEABLE! THEIR ECONOMY WAS MESSED UP! THEY WILL BURN!
