    Default Help with Regions

    Hello,

I am making a mod called Rome: Total Realism Platinum Edition II (RTRPE2). I am currently tweaking the new map that was made for me and I need some help with region names. I know a few but many I do not know, and I thought the RTR community might be able to help me out. I will simply list the settlement name and if I know the region name I will put it next to it, if I don't I will leave it blank. Please give me the english names for the regions as this mod will have english names. i.e. Ambracia over Ambrakia.

I will continually edit the list below as people come up with names for the settlements.

Also I didn't know exactly where to post this so if it is in the wrong place, feel free to relocate it

    Default Re: Help with Regions

Hey there, I suppose you just need historical names? Or the province names from RTR?

I'll just put historical ones I know, I don't think there will be much of a difference anyway. Some don't have clear names obviously so I'll put different ones that have been used in history:

    Greece:

    Thessalonica- Chalkidiki/Macedonia (secunda)
    Byzantium- Europa/Thracia/Marmara
    Argos- Argolis
    Amphipolis- Edoni/Amphipolis
    Lysimacheia- Chersoneses/Dardanelles
Dyrrachium- Epidamnia (because the city was called Epidamnos in Greek)

    Asia Minor:

    Pergamon- Mysia
    Sardis- Lydia
    Halicarnassus- Caria
    Sinope- Paphlagonia
    Smyrna- Ionia
    Gordium- Phrygia
    Nicaea- Bithynia

Side is also in Pamphylia I think.

For Sicily they aren't really proper names for the regions. Syracuse can be ''Sicilia Graeci'' or just ''Syracuse'' or ''Syracusana'', some have even called it ''West Greece'' but I wouldn't choose that.

    Caucasus:

    Kotais- Kolchis

    Northern Africa:

    Carthage- Africa
    Utica- Zeugitana
    Cirta- Numidia
    Tingi- Mauretania

That's it, I have to sleep now
"Pompeius, after having finished the war against Mithridates, when he went to call at the house of Poseidonios, the famous teacher of philosophy, forbade the lictor to knock at the door, as was the usual custom, and he, to whom both the eastern and the western world had yielded submission, ordered the fasces to be lowered before the door of science."

Pliny the Elder, Naturalis Historia, 7, 112
