Game end problem

I have conquered all the regions but one in the Brutii campaign, but when I take the last city the games ends automatically. A screen appears saying "you are master of all, nothing left to prove etc" and the only option is return to main menu, not continue campaign like when you have taken Rome and 50 regions. Is there a way of playing past this point with all regions taken, I can't see any triggers in the desrc_strat file.

You can either just save the city of Rome to cnoquer until later, or do a quicksave.

I've never gotten to that point (not enough dedication...) but I think one of these will let you save:

1) Press escape, does the menu come up? I'm not sure if it does, but if you save and reload you can continue playing.

2) Pressing F1 (or some one of the Function keys) should save a quicksave or Autosave, which will if you reload you can continue playing.

Wait...are you saying you have taken every region on the map?
If so the game is meant to end.

The game ends if I take the last region. I just wondered if this was a game feature that is set in stone, or if you can do something that will allow you to continue after taking all regions. I was just going to see if was possible to max out all the cities (perhaps a bit too much time on my hands). I was sure I have seen some other posts where people have implied that they had conquered everything and continued playing.

Thanks for the advice, you can get to the save game menu when the "end game" screen comes up. If you save and reload the game continues as predicted. Now I have conquered all regions, although it remains to be seen how long I will be bothered to keep this game going......might go back to my half completed Egypt game for a bit more challenge.
