I demanded 20,000 in payment, and GOT IT

Playing normal long campaign as Shimazu. Took me 15 years to take over all of my home island.
I am now about to expand westward across the little strait, but the clan I am thinking of invading is strong, so I wanted to become allies with his neighboring countries so we can all attack at once.

One clan was meagre and weak, I demanded payment of 20,000, military alliance, trade alliance, and all sorts of goodies and he said YES!!!

Is this a bug or what? My yearly income is only about 2000, with no trade nodes whatsoever. And being a school yard bully gave me 20,000 upfront! Is there any repercussion like to my daimyo's honor?

You sometimes find a clan with one province and no trade partners will give untold money for an agreement. I think they must be making money from the province itself and just stockpile money instead of expanding the province.

I don't think it would work if you tried to recreate it. In order to support the stacks of, not just ashigaru mind you, troops they usually have on top of purchasing all the upgrades which in later tiers costs a

TON, it would seem impossible for them to even break even with the upkeep let alone be able to save up to afford 5-digit deals.

I mean it's really a rhetorical question, we all know the AI is programmed to cheat with its own money handicaps (which honestly just ruins the game).
