Rap

Wow. I'm a relative newbie to Rap, and the 'Hip-Hop' culture, but what I here, I like. My understanding is that it is something that shouldn't be commercial. It should be underground, not 'pop' but underground; true to the music and away from the vices of money. 50 Cent and all that is good, but it certainly isn't what true Rap is.

I've got a lot of Nas, some Eyedea and Abilities (Eyedea is rapper from MN), Har Mar Superstar (an R&B/Rap artist from MN,) Mobb Deep (early *******), some Roots, some Talib Kweli, and Jay Z's Black album. All but Jay Z I like a lot; Jay Z just seems a bit too 'processed', not as much feeling and 'groove'.

What are your opinions on Rap?

The only rapper I like is Sage Francis. I hate all the popular, crappy rap that's on MTV.

Nas is my favourite.
Old school baby... Illmatic is the best album.

Earlier rap is good; the original stuff from the 1980s and into the early-to-mid 1990s. German rap is also very good, as far as modern rap goes.
What it, well, interesting, to say the least, is a remix of gangsta-rap and country.

I would add biggies first album (ready to die), some pac, and eminem before he was signed to aftermath, papoose is good too. Oh and Immortal technique if you like political rap.

Rap was killed by Shaquille O'Neal.

Tupac is the only rap I listen to, I hate 50cent god he's a ass.
