Default What if we're already dead?

A thought crossed my mind the other day - what if we're already dead, and our lives are just being replayed in our heads? A bit of a scary thought.

You can think of many, many such scary scenarios, from Matrix to some odd reincarnation schemes...you know the principle of Plato's cave?

It's impossible to tell for sure, so...don't bother with it.

It'd make no difference: perceivable reality is just that PERCEIVABLE "reality". It would change nothing if your supposition were true.

It might just be that "reality" is just a computer program which I'm running on my calculator. In any case, Have Fun! And don't to anything that would land you in jail!

I'd be ing myself at the thought of being alive.

What if we are? Does it matter? You don't know you are and you're 'living' a life so enjoy it.

Honestly I don't care if I'm dead, the dream of some giant magic ogre, or any other scenario you can come up with. As long as I'm still extant I'll just get on with 'living'.

So what will you do with this information? Will you go on to rape, steal and murder, or will you try to lead a life of productivity and maybe happiness? Do you remember a thing called "tamagotchi"? It was just some plastic and pixels, yet people formed attachments to them. You'd have to be a sociopath in order not to care about your fellow human beings, whether souls exist or not.

Being 100% about anything is just an abstract projection anyway, it changes nothing about reality. Admitting that you don't know anything is the first step to true happiness, the trouble is: it's an easy thing to forget.

Whatever "this" is, is called alive. Whatever "this" isn't, is called dead.

We might not be sure what "this" is, but it's called life. We've already come to a consensus.

Your fear is fairly irrational. Your thought is not entirely, it's basically a semantics argument.

If we are dead, this is Hell. Which explains why there's no sign of the big guy.

    An interesting suggestion.

My own belief system - or rather, positing system - is Gnostic with Cathar, Marcionite and NeoPlatonist distinctions.

It is very much, "behind the veil" stuff.
