Medieval shell restarts turn?

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall Medieval 2, and before medieval shell would pop up and restart my turn whenever my laptop charger came out, but now it will do it halfway through my turn, and there is no reason why it should be doing it. Playing on the disc with windows 7

I also found out that pressing F2 will also make it happen, an when I select an army, it will redirect me to another army, then make the medieval shell thing happen. (note: medieval shell also appears on top of a keybind menu.)

Unless the laptop is close to being underpowered and there is not enough oomph in the battery to keep it going amongst other things.

When was the last time you updated the motherboard drivers, graphics drivers, sound drivers, and run Windows Update manually installing all software options?

I am having a similar problem where I have the shell pop up in the middle of a turn. It is also doing it during battles and it speed up time in game. I have check all of my drivers and they are all up to date. I can't figure out what else to do.

Wireless mouse and/or keyboard? Mac?

I have a HP Elitebook 2760 and i have a wired mouse

Have you tried to see if HP has newer drivers here?

Yes I have. All of my drivers are up to date.

You have a conflict someplace for it to happen, either the driver itself or conflicting with another program.

I'm not sure what it could be conflicting with. I don't have any custom drivers installed on this laptop. I only use the drivers provided by Microsoft and HP.

Have you tried it with just the mouse on the laptop with the other one unplugged?

Yea i just tried that. It worked for a little while before I had CTD and it gave me an error that said "Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit."

Some have had varying degrees of luck with Microsoft's IntelliType and IntelliMouse drivers.

Now when I try to load the game, it is in a perpetual loop of the Shell popping up and the turn restarting. I can't even see the campaign map since it reloads so fast.

Uninstall the two I listed and try it with just the laptop's mouse, again.

ok. So in my absence (Had a family gathering to get ready for yesterday) I have uninstalled Kingdoms andreinstalled it twice as a test. I also manually searched for all of my current equipment and found that their drivers are all up to date. Upon restarting my game, I can continue with my campaign for about 30 to 45 minutes before either the game suffers an unknown, fatal error or the shell comes back and starts reloading my game from its last save over and over and over again, requiring me to ctrl+alt+del out of it and start over. When I bring the game back up, I unplugged my mouse and tried it with just the mouse pad with the same results. Finally, I restarted the game and let it sit there on the campaign map and after a couple minutes, the shell would pop up and the whole cycle would begin anew.

When you unplugged your mouse did you also remove the mouse driver you were using before testing? You really are describing a driver issue but I'll be damned if I can see exactly where it is.

Did you actually do as irishron suggested? Did you install the Intellitype driver?

Have you ever invested in a cooling pad or propped up the laptop to get some cooler air under it?
