Need Real Help

Okay so I opened my computer and a popup from norton anti-virus came and said you have a Trojan Horse, or something like that. I know that is a virus and was wondering what to do. Although Norton did say it would correct the problem, just want to know as a precaution.

I would run a full system virus scan to be on the safe side...

also, do you have any spy-ware removers?
if you do I suggest you use them as well...

Boot to Safe Mode and then run your virus-scan. Trojans are more easily detected in Safe-Mode

Run a boot-time virus scan to make sure everything has been removed.

You should also perform a full system scan using Spybot and Adaware.

I don't know about Norton because I use Avast. But usually there should be an option somewhere for either doing a full system scan, or better yet, a boot-time scan. It shouldn't be that hard to find.

Just run the Norton program, and you should be able to run a scan, it is fairly simple. Also, download the free versions of Avast and AVG, they are better than Norton.

open up norton antivirus..go to scan for viruses...then go to scan my computer...

Nah, Pyyrhus. Norton has much faster responses to viruses....

Better yet, install Linux :-)

I use Ubuntu, I love it. But Avast or AVG picks up much more things and works better, in my experience, than Norton. Norton was great in the old days, it has fallen prey to lots of inside viruses now though. Again, in my experience

Ubuntu is freaking brilliant, I might write a shell script to get commonly used programs installed for beginners.
