    Default Financial Report explanation

    I have played this game for years, but I never noticed what "positive corruption" is.

    Example: I'm playing HRE, have tons of provinces and huge income. Tax income is highest of course, but the second highest is not under trade or farming as you would think. It is listed under "Corruption and other", with 42k income and 14k expenditure. The latter is of course wealth lost to corruption, but what is the former?

    I have one vassal (hungary, one province), I play on medium difficulty, and I have about 4k in diplomacy/tributes income (probably the vassal).

    Anyone knows?

    Well, here are the modifiers on settlement income.
    Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_FARMS">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_TAXES">
    <pip_modifier value="0.8"/>
    <castle_modifier value="0.75"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_MINING">
    <pip_modifier value="1.25"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_TRADE">
    <pip_modifier value="1.2"/>
    <castle_modifier value="0.8"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_BUILDINGS">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_ADMIN">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_WAGES">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_UPKEEP">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_CORRUPTION">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_ENTERTAINMENT">
    <pip_modifier value="1.0"/>
    </factor>
    <factor name="SIF_DEVASTATION">
    <pip_modifier value="1.5"/>
    </factor>

    On the negative side it can be corruption or devastation. On the positive side, it looks like it could be Admin and Buildings. Not sure what Entertainment is. I don't think I've ever seen income due to entertainment. Maybe I just don't pay close enough attention.

    Entertainment must be racing tracks / plaza del toro or whatever allows races to be held. Having races decreases income.

    Admin is income from governor and Buildings must be the direct income that some buildings give in some mods, as I don't think any building has this bonus in vanilla.

    But why are wages and upkeep put as settlement income factors? They don't change the settlement income and aren't showed in settlement details scroll of settlement. Am I missing something?

    I assume they just left a lot of the file structure the same as Rome. Wages and Upkeep did affect settlement income in Rome.

    I'm pretty sure SIF is income as well as expenses. You could test it by setting SIF corruption to 0.5 and see if that halves negative corruption or not.

    But this is not what I asked about really, I want to know how I can get such high "other" income in my vanilla game. afaik no buildings in vanilla give a flat income - trade buildings give trade income, mines mining income. And farms... you get the idea.

    So what gives?

    BTW when the black plague hit me I pretty much lost this income, and regained it afterwards. Thus it may be linked to trade somehow.

    Yup, revenues and expenses are both part of income.

    I'm guessing you haven't modified any files, right?

    Expenses are counted as negative income.

    Of course. It wouldn't make sense for expenses to count as positive income

    Could you upload a save file?

    I have no idea what could give 42k, unless you somehow have very awesome governors everywhere. Check your regions settlement details scroll at income, how much does Admin give?

    Probably admin income is generated from trade and because the plague cancels all trade if cancels this too

    Or more probably there is another income source we're all missing...

    Maybe it's the amount of money that you save with your governors and your administrative buildings which increase law.

    I thought this too, until I realized that it wouldn't make sense to have law giving more positive corruption than the total negative corruption.

    For the rest: Yes I have focused on chuches so the income boost from high Piety governors might be a source, but would this be so high?

    Game is unmodded, except for Third Age total war, which are in it's own folder of course.

    This savegame is a bit old, but shows the anomaly: Note that next turn this positive corruption is set to 0.

    I think I've figured it out. I briefly played a few turns. On turn 112 the "positive corruption" is 1114 florins, it's the income generated by good governors.

    Then I have sacked Caesarea and Baghdad, it gave 6k and 15k. The number changed from 1114 to 24k. So sacking most probably gave you that income. Also the 2k given by successful crusade must have been added too.

    Ah yes of course that is it. Thanks (+rep).
