Cretan Archers

I don't suppose there's any way of reducing their power? In medium against phyruss, one cretan archer unit routed a principes and a triarii unit before my general had to step in and destroy it. I think they're way too overpowered, not only in terms of realism, but gameplay wise as well. How is it possible that an archer unit can defeat the best Roman infantry units?

As I remember this unit of Pyrrhus is a very strong one.
But all skirmishers do the following in DarthMod (due to mass settings)
They stretch too much and isolate the slow moving units.
So they are weak in melee but eventually effective due to the a.m .
