War is inevitably over between developed nations. Wars become unprofitable between the strong so they fight the weaker. Basically conflicts of the future will more than likely be between the developed versus the abject and impoverished; guerilla warfare and all that will probably be the main weaponry the stronger nations will face.

Put this in the Ethos, nearest Tribunous.

And, war may never end. However, saying "war won't ever end" is NOT AN EXCUSE to renew conflicts ... Carach...

There won't be a world without war when there are still terrorists around, and guns, and bad men. Conclusion: there will be no world without war.

I think the best chances for elminating war on this planet is through global domination by a single individual. "A War To End All Wars," a simply massive scale. It would make the other World Wars look more like "Small isolated areas wars" by comparison, but so long as that empire is properly maintained, then the world need not see war again.

War will always be a feature of humanity for one simple reason: Greed.

Until... on Vinegar Hill... the final conclave.
Terraced thousands died, shaking scythes at cannon.
The hillside blushed, soaked in our broken wave.
They buried us without shroud or coffin
And in August... the barley grew up out of our grave.

There would have to be rebellions. Without rebellions, the people of such an empire would forget the power of their conquerors.

Since this seems to be more of a philosophical discussion, I have moved the thread to the Ethos section.

I suppose war generally refers to a violent contest of large proportions - but conflict was around prior to the agricultural revolution. The bloodshed we see today is nothing more, to my mind, than a magnification of tribal friction.

Yes, war had been around since the first time a human grabbed something heavy and smashed another's skull. And since then it has only grown larger and more advanced. What needs to happen is a "reset". Set technology back by about 2000 years.

Our biology would be the same, so the process would begin all over again. And the wars of two millenia ago, although nowhere near as bloody as their modern industrial equivalents, were no picnic.

Yes but wars tended to be more, simple. just think it would be better if we reverted back to pitched battles.

But if we were to do that we would also lose much of our positive technological and social advancements. Is that preferable to your mind?

Well, I would miss my PC, but I don't think any social advancments would be lost, considering we really havn't made any.

So equality between genders, sexual preferences and races aren't social advances?
