Phantom MTW2 impeding my progress

First go to "Add/Remove Programs" from the Control panel and try to uninstall it from there. If that doesn't work make a restore point and use the following guide to remove the Registry calls manually - http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...Total-War.html

That is possible Ishiron. If so, what does that mean? Same fix as described above? Definitely have not been able to remove in add/remove programs.

So many of the things they wanted me to delete were not there. I did delete the ones that were and then at end I could not find any c-Program Files-Installshield installation bit. The phantom is still there. Should I have found all those items? Is there any screen I could post pic of that would help you help me on this?

You have to unhide all files, folders, and drives in folder Options to find the Installshield ones.

Possibly time fot a good, free registry cleaner to be used, too.

Have you ever used regedit and strl-f to look for certain words? I've had to more than a few times.

Try Eusing Free Registry cleaner. Key word, free, and I use it.

It was a mistype. irishron meant to type [ctrl-f]. This will bring up the search function in Regedit. Try typing in either "SEGA" or "medieval" and see what you come up with.

Before you do this make a restore point for your own safety. If you don't know what he's talking about it's best to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

It's possible that is the entry that is hanging you up. Are you sure that there aren't any other instances of "medieval" popping up in your search? You should be sure before you proceed....

Before you delete it make a restore point just to be safe. After that nuke the entry and try to reinstall M2. Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

That one has to be deleted. Now, you have at least one to search for.

How do you make a restore point? I have found many more entries typing in medieval.

It's in System Restore in the Control Panel.

In the box above the Start button, type restore point and follow it around.

When you say there is one you need to hunt down or find, does that mean I do not delete these items from Registry editor...but instead search for them and then delete them from where I find them....or both. If you do not delete them from registry editor, but I did delete one from there...am I screwed?

Delete them as you find them. If you don't, your phantom stays.
