Yes, they are very good. Except that you havent posted your CPU. Andyou are using DDR2 Ram, I hope that you are getting an AM2 motherboard and an AM2 socket processor.
Also, try and get a 512mb card, preferably a 7900GTX or the 7900GT.

Is it socket 939 or AM2? I would highly recommend AM2, as its the newest and fastest platform, and AM2 mobos support DDR2 RAM.
Also, if its not too late, go for an ATI X1900XT, its the same price as the 7900GT but easily ut performs it, infact it outperforms the 7900GTX as well!

I would rather take any of the Intel Core 2 series then any AMD processor at the moment. Intel Core 2 processors are much better at the moment then any of the AMD's.

The intel dua CPUs murder AMD for preformance at your price range. If you haven't already ordered then price up a E6400. It should be cheaper ($100 ish) and will be faster than the AMD5000. That should allow you the cash to get a second gig of RAM.

    Edit \/

E6600 is more expensive though than the 5000. I always try to stick to someones budget unless its like £5 difference.

Grrr this alienware website annoying me. They claiming a 100% improvement using 2 cards in SLI. Must be a magic application they fgot that 'data' from.

WTF! they asking an additional $250 to upgrade from 1 Gig to 2 Gig of DDR2! Someones taking the urea.

I would rather go with E6600, it have 4MB Cache instead of E6400 2MB Cache.

One thing to be aware of, there is currently no nForce 590 chipset for Inel CPU's.

Last I heard nVidia was still having problems with it. It is also not a complete nForce 5 chipset, half of it is still an nForce 4. The complete nForce 5 for Core 2 won't be ready until early 2007.

So if you do not mind losing SLI I would suggest going with an Intel 975X instead.

I'm with Pyrrhus, dont buy Alienware desktops, they rip you off, you are better off ordering parts through newegg and building yourself.
You still get warranty on the parts, you get to learn how to fix problems yourself, you save money, and it is so easy to do.
BTW what you are wanting to get would murder FEAR considering my 2 year old system can play it on the highest settings with average of 55 fps.

    I have the following:
    AMD64 3100+ Sempron 754 (clocked to 2.4ghz),
    1gb Ram,
    AsrockVm800 m/board,
    ATI Radeon 9550XT 256mb
and I play Quake 4 and Fear at a comfortable 30-40 fps
In-fact, I've played HL2 and Call of Duty2 at up to 80 per sec!
So, yeah your system will certainly do the job, and continue to do so for some time...

    AMD A64 3500 @ 3ghz
Leadtek 6800GT (running at ultra speeds). 256mb
    1 gb ram. (good ram).
    480 watt psu (good...antec neopower).
    Audigy 2 ZS sound card
    2 * 120 gb Seagate Barracuda hard drives (7200 rpm 8mb cache).
I forget my DVD drive/burner's brand...it does the job though.

Using this I can also play Oblivion at full specs as well.
