Massive ping and packet loss
Since I've now learned more about my problem you might as well change the thread title to: Alternatives to satellite internet
I live in the country which makes satellite internet seemingly necessary. I'm currently using Hughesnet which gives me about 600-800 ping making it entirely unsuitable for gaming. Is there any alternative to this that would allow me to play online?

It all depends on where you live.

Re: Massive ping and packet loss
Indeed. From what I can tell my only option is DSL.
Edit: Well nevermind. My phone lines don't have fiber optics so DSL is out of the question. Damn.

Re: Massive ping and packet loss
DSL in this cowtown is still 2-wire copper wire, no fiber.
