can i runt it ? (med2)

the pc guy said no, i cant run any game, and if memory serves me right he said it was because he removed the graphics card because i ed up something ,or whatever... (it was 6 months ago, and now i miss playing games )

so theres only 1 thing between me and med2 (again), i wanna know what is the piece i need
(processor, graphics card, ram, ... ? )
and if its possible the price too(i wanna play on high settings, preferably)

here is my pc config:
Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 32-bit
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00GHz
Graphics Card: Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family
Total RAM: 1.5 GB

btw, what would i need to play empire or napoleon ? (and prices too) (since the price of these games are now very low, why not buy ? )

Well at 1.5 gigs of ram im suprized you can run windows without snapping the laptop in half so you'll need at least 1.5 more gigs.

And as for a card I use a Nvidia GTX 460 which is pretty mid range. I can run high on most but not ultra everthing.

Your CPU is good though so thats a pro.

to todays prices i found that it would be enought:
1.5 more gigs ??? 20€ ?
Nvidia GTX 460- 66 € or Geforce 8800GTS 320MB- 55 € (ebay prices, and not the lowest)
is that right ?

btw its not a laptop, and were you talking just about med2 ? or you were including empire and/or nappy ?

Choose a game in the list and it tells if yours specs are enough to run the game. You'll have to run a java thingy which is harmless BTW, I expect stupid antiviruses like norton or whatever to say it's a virus like everything on the freaking internet.

Your CPU is relatively lowly-rated in most modern benchmarks (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?...tium+4+3.00GHz), but fortunately, part of the reason is that it only has one core, and multi-core CPUs do not really benefit from the engine of M2.

I don't think RAM is a issue because games don't use that much RAM.

Mods like SS are more demanding than the normal vanilla game. I'm not sure if you'll be able to run everything on high, with large unit size.

last time i played SS (on low, largest units) i did have a GF7300LE 128mb/32 bit, good old days... (accordint to "can i run it", i wouldn't even be able to run the game)

50-60 € is the maximum i want to spend on the graphics card, so one of those 2 graphics card i must choose !

On my old laptop, I played SS on low settings on a i7 720 QM (1.6 Ghz, but was six-core so inefficient for older games), and Mobility Radeon HD 5650.

Sorry I was focused on Shogun 2 and I dont know where laptop came from but still 1.5 gigs is very low with modern windows i.e Vista/7

When it comes to ram you need to do a little research into what type of ram is compatible with your motherboard
but the graphics card seems about right. The graphics card is more than sufficient for Med 2. Chipsets are by design not made for games. Only videos and images.

I would get the GTS 460 and probably buy 4 GB of RAM. RAM is cheap and it would probably get you enough to play up to Shogun 2 on pretty high settings. It could likely be done for under $100 if you watch Newegg for Christmas sales.

get a new motherboard actually. even with 100gb of ram, the 32 bit systems only use up to 2 or 3 gb. go with a 64 bit (or 128 if it exists) and save yourself the troubles that i had.

I ran Windows XP with 1 GB RAM for 6.5 years. M2TW ran fine.

i checked on game debate and i can even run empire

will i now be able to run med2 on high, and empire at least on low ?

Since you've already bought the components, why don't you try it yourself to see if it runs well?

As to whether it runs on high, it depends on your preferences. I have a i7-3770 (3.4 GHz eight-core), Radeon HD 7770, and 16 GB ram, and I sometimes drop some of the settings to medium in larger battles.
