Default An expedition into the Dark

After a long journey from Erebor the Dwarven company finally arrives before the gates of Moria. They stood still and watched the gate for some time.. this was it, their home land, the place they had fought to keep, but had lost still, and the place Gloin and Balin would take back if they could. Into the mountain they marched carfully and on high alert, knowing full well the threats that could face them in Durin's Treshold..

    Forces
    Gloin
    Balin
8,000 Dwarven Heavy Infantry (+1 Armor)

    OOC
I'm not sure what they are armed with or armored in, and I think the number of Dwarves is 8,000(or atleast thats what the rules say)

The discovery of the Doors of Durin filled the dwarves with a great sense of excitement. This sense of excitement was replaced with a sense of loss as they neared the battlefield where the climax of the Dwarf-Goblin wars took place. Many of their brethren had fallen in this small place at the very gates of Moria. With the doors now open, Durin's folk now entered the mines for the first time in many hundreds of years.

The inner chamber was very dimly lit by the setting sun, and soon torches had to be brought in to light the way. The inner chamber was an absolute mess, strewn with skeletal remains of goblins that had died during the battle, crawling back inside to die of their wounds. A good number of mutilated dwarf-corpses were also to be found. Skittering noises betrayed the position of the goblin-guard, which had fled in the face of such numbers. It would be soon that the goblins of Moria would know of the dwarf invasion.

You need to go here and figure out your economy and equip your troops accordingly and have a list of your units.

The Dwarves have varying reactions to the sight of their fallen brethren, some are infuriated, others are solemn, and a few are frightened. Balin walks toward one of the corpses crossing its arms and saying,
You need not worry my friend, we will finish what you began, I swear it

Groin is less sober and more enraged by the sight of his fallen kin, he turns to hear the Goblin rush off deeper into the mine, he calls after the creature,
Ha, come and get us you filthy beasts! There are Dwarves in Moria that still draw breath!

Groin turns back to his men,
We will set our camp here no doubt they will come for us, and we will be ready

The Dwarves capture the Threshold unopposed, thus establishing a foothold in Moria

With the Threshold taken and the goblins, seemingly, in disarray the Dwarves now push their way deeper into Moria, moving on for the Descent, the steps leading into the rest of Moria. The force is led by Gloin.

    Forces
3,000 Ultra Heavy Dwarven infantry (+2)

As this is an invasion, the goblins get to choose how to respond

    Orders

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The Dwarves set up at the top of the descent waiting for the goblins to respond from below. They use the natural narrowness and stepness of the stair way to their advantage forcing the goblins to face them out if their normal horde way and face them in a 'up hill' or up stair battle if you will. Gloin leads from the front of his men, their intent is to use their elivation and skill to push the goblins host back down the descent, as they cut down as many of the beasts as possible, if at all possible.

Rugtak stares up at the dwarves. "Foolsss, come down here and fight." there is a chorus of laughter from the surrounding Goblins. Many of them begin jeering at the Dwarves. The trolls bang their clubs on the ground. Goblins milling at the foot of the decent continue to fire on the dwarves.

The Dwarves dont move, in response to the archers they lift their shields, this coupled with their heavy armor and the lack of Goblin archers(not to mention their lack of skill) should render the arrows ineffective. The Dwarves in return call out to the Goblins goading them inoto an attack. Gloin calls out to them, What does your horde of beasts fear but a few sons of Durin?! Come and enjoy the fabled hospitality of the dwarves!,
