Default Problems with RSII and Steam

I downloaded the mod using this link, followed the instructions and got the launcher to work. I can use the launcher i choose to play as Rome and select Rome BI and then hit play RSII. Next the game crashes and opens a command prompt " -mod:play_rome -show_err " and an error that says "problem checking steam application" Any help would be much appreciated as i really do want to play this awesome looking mod!

The link i got the files from

As I recall, Rome and Play need to be capitalized. Try : modlay_Rome -nm -show_err and let me know how that works.

edit: Stupid emoticons. That face should be a colon followed by a capital P with no spaces.

Well i cant edit my posts sorry. Anyways that is an outdated error message i get a new and longer error message now. it reads

    " -mod:play_rome -show_err -nm -movie_cam"

Exactly like that with the lowercase rome and play.

So i think this means that there is something wrong with my movie_cam whatever that is

Heh. Clever icons. "Hat Simulator." Cracked me up. Have you also tried launching steam with administrative privileges?

I also am having the "problem checking steam application" issue. Does anyone know any fixes to this? I really love this mod but it can be so hard to get to work on steam sometimes.

Yes i know how to fix it. Open your launcher and put all the settings you want in there, like hi res textures or bloom or whatever you want, then hit save and close the launcher. Then go to your steam and right click rome total war hit properties go to set launch options and then type in -mod:play_Rome -show_err -nm with a space in front of the -mod. Then launch the game through steam and it will allow you to play the roman campaign. Also make sure all of the mod is in the Rome Total War Folder in the Steam Program 86x files area for RTW.

    Hola Senores and Senoritas,
I recently dloaded RSII and I am a steam user, i extracted all the files to my desktop, then put all those files out and about in the Rome Total War Gold directory (no folder for them) and then i edited my launch options appropriately. The problem is nothing changed except the screen and lighting seems better. Any suggestions? Thanks and i look forward to playing

Thank you so much Victus, you really helped me out, turns out i had the mod installed to the RTW-copy folder instead of the RTW folder.

Thank you so much now just to decide which faction to play as!
