Default Microphone buzzing to other people.

Been playing Counterstrike GO and people always complain about my microphone having a buzzing sound whenever I speak. I quickly blamed it on the game after tests recording myself in TS, Audacity, and Microsoft Windows showed no signs of buzzing. I was wrong however that it was only CS, as now people on teamspeak complain about it as well. Again, whenever I record something..it works out fine. Just not to other people. Any suggestions?

Yep, on D-Day in Iraq, we launched over 500,000 pikemen to capture the flag which Rome was holding. Didn't go so well for us but those Spartans didn't win by much with there muskets.

Just some secretarial work. You've given us very little to go on. We have no idea what type of computer you have, your Internet connection type, if this happens in other games, etc. and etc. We need that info to make a start.

Answer the following questions please in no particular order. Please add in anything you might think relevant....

    • Desktop or laptop?
    • Internet connection type and situation - DSL, Cable, Satellite? Home or dorm room?
    • OS? XP, Vista, Win7, Linux kernel of some flavor or MacOS?
    • Version of Teamspeak?
    • Brand, make and model of headset/microphone.

Now you mention that recordings you make to yourself are clean. The problem lies on the other end. Multiple people have complained about the problem which would seem to rule out common problems on the other end. There's the mystery....

Please explain the "buzzing" as best you can as described to you. From your friends perspective does it sound like an echo or straight line fuzz?

I've tried to help you figure out how to present the problem here but you'll have to give more before anyone here has an idea what's going on on your end. Please fill in some blanks. Good luck!

When you recorded yourself in TS was the game on? I had a similar issue when I was not in game the microphone was fine. To fix the issue, I had to move my microphone jack from the front pc jack to the rear of my sound card. Inside my pc, there was too much interference between my sound card and the front jack, since that wiring is usually unshielded anyways.

    Desktop
WISP (in between DSL and Cable)
    Win 7
Teamspeak3 , but other programs show that the recording is fine as well
Cyber Acoustics, I have no idea abou the make and model. It's a USB as well.

Buzzing just sounds kinda like a lot of bass coming out of my mic, or at least thats what other people have described.

People in TS said it was buzzing, the game wasn't on at that point. I am actually gonna try moving it to the back. While the cable management is great on this case, I think you might be right.

Sounds the same when plugging in the back. I could faintly hear the sound in my TS recording but same result when in game.

Is this a headset with a microphone? This next question may sound odd - how close is the mic to your mouth? Back it off an inch or two and see if the problem persists. Please get back to us. Good luck!

    Yes it is.

I have tried moving every way possible and still nothing.

I am debating on whether or not I should purchase another pair of headphones, but I am not sure if they are the cause. Any ideas?

What else do you have going on in your room? I've heard of even a box fan can do this if they aren't shielded.

    No box fan.

Only other electronics are my PC, Monitor, Wireless router, and cell phone.

Do you have speakers in addition to your headset? If so are they playing at the same time you're using your headset?

Also - you first claimed that it was only a problem on the other end with your friends. But you last said you could faintly hear it when you made you're own TS recording. Are you sure it's the same effect?

It does sound like interference from some source. You have something that is not grounded properly or shielded properly or possibly a little of both.

I can't stay up with these new digital sound gurus since I cut my electronics teeth on AM radio, black and white tv, and analog sound systems. My generation was the one that figured out how to add amplifierss and reverb units to car radios years before these boomboxes were even a dream.

    Lmao, +rep for that one.

Well, I just built this PC and I have no idea about anything to do with grounded. Would it have anything to do with my surge protector?

I doubt it as they usually have a good ground unless the plug it's plugged into is not grounded like 99.9% of the houses in my neighborhood. I had to ground my outlet myself. One nice thing about homeownership.

Its the same effect but like I said, the magnitude is COMPLETELY different. People say the buzzing is really loud but whenever I record myself, I can barely hear it.

My monitor has speakers but they are never playing when my mic is plugged in. Win7 automatically does that I believe.

That says to me that you have a problem on your end that is relatively minor - random interference. On the other end something, likely software related, is amplifying the buzzing. Could you provide us with a screenshot of your mic controls through Win7? I don't deal with it personally so this is probably as far as I go. I'd highly suggest looking into microphone settings to see if you can turn down the sensitivity in any way. Good luck!

    What settings should I show?

I noticed something in there called "AGC"..could this be the culprit?

It's been too long since I've seen this one and had to use Google. It came up with a couple of links.

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/For...2-7e224b74b182
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_gain_control

I am about 90% sure this is the root of your problem.
