I know the Artist Studio will also get you ancillaries (like the obvious one, "Artist") and I'm guessing but probably will get you some traits too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Alchemist's Lab does the same, but giving a boost to Gunpowder units is useful enough, right?
Oh yeah, that's a good point. Artist's Studio is linked to:
-Aesthetic - Negative Command, Easier to Bribe, Lowers Squalor
-Epicurean - Increased Trading, Easier to Bribe
-ExpensiveTastes - Penalty to Construction Costs, Penalty to Tax Collection, Reduced Squalor
-Gambling - Reduced Trade Income, Easier to Bribe
-Cultured - Increased Authority and Local Popularity
-Artist Ancillary - Increased Local Popularity, Easier to Bribe, Reduced Squalor
-Donatello Ancillary - Increased Local Popularity, Reduced Squalor
-Raphael Ancillary - Increased Local Popularity, Reduced Squalor
-Michelangelo Ancillary - Increased Local Popularity, Reduced Squalor
Alchemists Lab is linked to:
-Intelligent - Increased Command, Trade Income, and Tax Income
-RhetoricSkill - Increased Authority until the last level, at which point it becomes negative Authority
-Sane - No effects, but keeps you from going Insane
-Counterfeiter Ancillary - Increased Finance
-Alchemist Ancillary - Increased HP, Gunpowder Command
-Brilliant Inventor Ancillary - Increased Siege Build Points, Farming Income, Mining Income
-Magician Ancillary - Increased Troop Morale, Local Popularity
-Scribe Ancillary - Increased Authority, Trade Income
-Johannes Faust Ancillary - Dread, Reduced Piety, Increased Fertility and HP
-Ibn Khaldun Ancillary - Increased Piety, Authority, Trade Income
-Albertus Magnus Ancillary - Increased Order due to Law
Cool, you pulled that up quick.
Great stuff. Alchemists' looks valuable; I don't see much in the Artists' Studio. Thanks for the answers.
When your cities get big you'll sacrifice your children to reduce squalor to keep them happy and productive...
Pretty much the Medieval 2 versions of the academy and ludus magna etc from Rome
