Sorry, I searched this but came up with very little. I just want to know how to use it. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Not much use building them if I can't use them.

Normal use: and put it behind your infantry line to inspire troops.
Abuse: since the standard is manned by spearmen who never rout, you can just use them to lead the way, and take the charge, when advancing your formation.
Defending siege: just park it at the gatehouse, as close as possible. The enemy will have a rougher time coming in (as they available space is less because of the unmovable standard), also the spearmen's good morale will help at the gate battle![]()
Anyone know why Sicily doesn't get one?
Probably because they are Norman, not Italian.
I'm still having trouble moving the thing. Sometimes it will go where I want it; other times it won't budge. I'm quickly coming to think it's not worth building.
I think it's much like moving artilary or a battering ram, where you'll have trouble on some hilly terrain and within cities. I always "paint" out the formation of the unit instead of just clicking to move them, as this should give you a good idea as to where they will and will not go.
I think they're invaluable, esp. for Milan - combined with the Spear Militia and Genovese Crossbow Militia they make Milan's early army's very strong. I keep one in each city whenever possible, and just about any fort I build.
You do if you play Milan like me, and establish a trading realm around Antioch....
Of course a side effect of going crusading is that you can pick up the Crusade version of the Caroccio, in which case most any faction can make use of them provided they detour through Italy on their way to the Levant.
What do you mean by '"paint" out the formation of the unit'? Thanks for the reply.
Sorry I wasn't clear - you know when you press and hold the right mouse button, with a unit(s) selected, and then move the mouse you can see a projection of where each man in that unit(s) will stand, and can alter the length and width of that unit(s) formation. If that unit is, say, a catapult unit, you'll also see two big dots representing where the catapults will be. Now, if you are on some rough, hilly terrain there will be places men can stand, but catapults cannot (for some reason...). If you use this "painting" technique but your unit's projection does not show up, or the cursor becomes a red "X" then your unit cannot form up there (properly).
In a city battle, units like the Corraccio Standard, and even cavalry are tough to place properly, even when you think you have room. Hopefull this helps.
Thats quite an issue with M2 in general for me, the siege deploying is sooo dull, i cant place trebuchets and catapults quite often, its best that you place the standard only by clicking, dont try to "paint" it, just find a place where you think it might fit and start clicking all over the place you want it to be in(move the mouse around a little too), if it dosent work in the first minute of doing this, just give up.
When you begin the fight you can move the units much more easily, however the archers on walls are always acting like idiots that cant form up when you move them about in the battle time, drives me nuts.![]()
Thanks UndrState. I didn't know about that at all. Very interesting and I'm sure will be helpful. I'll be giving it a try shortly!
