    Default Spelling and Grammar Mistakes

Hello forum! I'm relatively new here, so I feel that I should introduce myself.

I'm an avid Zelda fan who discovered this mod about a year ago, and bought M2TW just to play it. However, I decided to wait for the mod to progress a bit more before trying it. I've recently started my first campaign, and I have to say that I'm loving the game. I applaud everyone who is working on it, and I'm looking forward to the finished product!

My first impression of the game is that UndyingNephalim has clearly put a lot of work into it. I think the scenery and characters look even nicer than in the vanilla M2TW, and the music is very high quality! But here and there I noticed some typos. Now, this isn't a big deal. I don't want anyone to think that I'm complaining. I do appreciate all the work that has been done so far, and I believe that the bigger tasks like finishing the campaigns and ironing out bugs are much more important. But seeing how even small details in the game have been given so much attention makes me feel that the writing should be the same.

I'm offering, if you'll accept, to keep a list of all the grammatical mistakes or spelling errors I encounter while playing. Strangely enough, this is something I would enjoy doing. Whenever the game developers feel like they have the opportunity to correct the writing in the game, this list would be right here for them to use. I think it would save time for the people who have already put in so much time working on this game!

If you feel that this is unnecessary, or that I'm not the right person for the job, feel free to decline. I won't be offended, and I won't continue asking.

Thank you for considering, and keep up the good work!

I'm another random fan like you. But in my opinion "go ahead". They won't decline a helping hand. It may not appear until the next patch, but I doubt they will complain.

Just to point out. I believe some of those were done on purpose for some of the Races. Like for the Moblins brutish accent and alike.

Methinks we need Diddly to reply to this thread and start Gannon-banning Neph for every ingame text error.

I would do this, but being English, all the words written correctly in American-English would be appearing on the list! Good luck with it!

Actually, that brings up an important point. Should everything be corrected to American spelling? I'm not sure which country's spelling UndyingNephalim prefers.

I can actually see Hyrule talking like Englishmen. (totally has nothing to do with the fact that they were adapted from the English ingame)

    @Mjolnr

You forgot many, old chap. My favourite would have to concern cars, as demonstrated on Top Gear. Their bonnets and windscreens cannot be overlooked, my fine fellow. Also of note was the time I dropped my torch on the lift, which was greatly crowded. By my honour, that was a nightmare.

*For any who are curious, bonnet = hood, windscreen = windshield, torch = flashlight, and lift = elevator.

Ok, British-American English comparisons aside, I would be fine with the translation either way. I would consider British English "proper English" but regional differences give credence to the use of American English.

West: Foranar- Azurita - The Redeemer - Sinteiria - Sakotae the Guardian (Tavia) - Saleria
    East: Nerise - Kiril

As for regional differences, I say we have the Hylians have the original, proper english while the people of the Ordona provinces have a more "American" feel, or a less formal English dialect (Cockney or something maybe?)

I too can't help but flinch at the text, and basic English errors in the mod. I am also willing to compose a list of mistakes and corrections. Neph has enough work on his hands.

If you'd like to help, go ahead. However, for the sake of organization, I suggest we make just one list. I'll post my list, and if I miss anything that you've found, you can put it in the comments or send me a PM. I'll then add it to the list. This way, Neph only has to use one list. The easier it is for him, the better!

I've already started, so feel free to do the same. I should be done by next weekend (there's a lot of text!).

To anyone else who wants to help: I welcome all contributions, but if we all post our own lists, it just makes it complicated for Neph. The goal is to save him some time and effort, so keeping it all organized is key. If you encounter an error that isn't in my list, leave a comment or send me a PM, and I'll update my list accordingly. Also, make sure that what you've found actually IS a mistake! I believe Neph is American (based on what I've read so far) so if you're from Canada (like myself) or Europe or anywhere else, be sure to familiarize yourself with American spelling.

Thanks, and please keep what you find until I post my list!

To be honest, I don't mind which it is as long as it is one or the other. Although I think British/European works better, I am obviously biased!

There is quite a bit of debate as to what race they're based on. From what I've heard, they best fit the Western-Europe mainland in terms of armour design and building structure more than Britain - Spain, France, Italy and the Western Germanic regions. In fact, judging by how they are the centre of a race- and nation- spanning religion, Italian fits best. However, there is also Switzerland - being at the centrepoint of many races and nations.

    MFW Hylians are all Italian.
