Military
In these times, the army was very different from today. There is a Republican Army, but the regiments are owned and paid for by characters, some however are levied by the state.
Any character with the rank of baron and above can form their own regiment. However, they must have joined the Army and have a military rank.
There are two ranks:
Colonel: Commander of a single regiment. Baron and above.
General: Commander of several regiments.
The generals serve the Government, but if a Stadthouder has been elected, he will be Commander-in-Chief of all armed forces.
All characters can form their own personal regiment. However, the regiment must serve the Republic.
If a character joins the rebels in a civil war, their regiment will follow them.
Regiments cannot rebel on their own.
Recruitment and upkeep will be paid by their captain (the owner) or State if they are the owner.
Mercenaries are temporary regiments, usually used to fill a gap in manpower in an army. To hire them you will have to sign a contract, hiring them for a couple of years. The quality and quantity can shift greatly between different mercenary regiments.
The Navy is structured like the Army, with a few differences.
Any character can form their own fleet. However, they must have joined the Navy and have a military rank.
There are two ranks:
Captain: Commander of a single fleet. Baron and above.
Admiral: Commander of several fleets.
The admirals serve the Government, but if a Stadthouder has been elected, he will be Commander-in-Chief of all armed forces.
All characters can form their own personal fleet. However, the fleet must serve the Republic.
If a character joins the rebels in a civil war, their fleet will follow them.

Trade System
Trade is the foundation of the newly formed republic. Trade will be a very lucrative business with huge profits or huge losses. Both the state and individual players can sent trade envoys to ports around the world. For trade within our own faction you can visit ports and factories in colonies.
Sea Trade:
When conducting sea trade, you will need ships. Each ship can carry 10 tons of goods. There are two kinds of ships:
- Trade Ship, a normal, unarmed ship. It costs 500 Gulden to construct.
- VOC Fluyt, a trade ship armed with 12 guns. IT can protect itself fairly well, but it costs 800 Gulden to construct
Land Trade:
When trading over land, you use caravans. They cost 200 Gulden to hire and can carry 1 ton each.
The goods below are those who are available for trading.
If you want to trade goods you go to the "The World" forum and post a thread where you sent your convoy which port of factory. then a moderator will role-play the situation with you. prices then will be determent and can be negotiated upon.
Paths
There won't be any specific paths in the game, but all characters will have to choose between being a Noble or a Citizen.
The nobles are old families, originating from medieval times and have always held a lot of power in the Netherlands. But the Citizens, commoners who have worked their way to wealth and power, are starting to get a heavier voice in the Republic.
If you choose to become a Noble, you start off as a baron. But you can work yourself up to the top. The Staten Generaal can decide through a vote if you should be promoted, but the Prime Minister and/or the Stadthouder can also promote you directly. Only Nobles can become Stadthouder. Even though the nobility has certain privileges, these can be changed by laws IG.
- Knight: The lowest noble rank. Citizens can be awarded this title for extraordinary service for the Republic, but doesn't have to accept. No bonuses.
- Baron: A baron is the most common title, as all Nobles start off as one. Only barons and above are allowed to have personal regiments and fleets and live in a castle. Barons get an extra 500 Gulden/year.
- Count: A middle noble title. Only Counts and above are allowed to govern colonies. Counts get an extra 800 Gulden/year.
- Duke: A high noble title. Dukes and above are the only ones allowed to have the military rank of General and Admiral. Dukes get an extra 1 000 Gulden/year.
- Prince: A high noble title. Princes get an extra 1 500 Gulden/year.
- Prince of Orange: The highest noble title. Only the Prime Minister can award this to a noble. The noble must have served as Prime Minister or Stadthouder. The Prince of Orange get an extra 2 000 Gulden/year.
Citizens are the commoners who have made their way to power and wealth through hard work. They trade and therefore get a 25% bonus for all the trade they do. Citizens have much more power in the VOC, the Dutch East Indian Company. Foreigners that have fled their home country are also counted as Citizens, even if they were nobles in their home country.
If you are a Citizen and trade and make 10 000 Gulden, you can multiply that with 1,25.
10 000 Gulden x 1,25 = 12 500 Gulden

Colonies
Being a huge part of early modern times colonization of course cannot be missed in the RPG!
The Netherlands only 2 "colonies" in the first term of the game will be Ambon and Mauritius.
A small island part of current day Indonesia and the Island of Mauritius , small history of the island of Ambon the Portuguese made it a colony in 1527, in 1600 the Dutch make a pact with the locals for trade building a small village(Factory) for trading. in 1603 the Portuguese mad at the Dutch hold a punishment expedition to get rid of the dutch and punish the locals.
in 1605 the dutch fleet engages the Portuguese and take there fort on the island and secure the Island for Dutch rule.
Mauritius is an Island outside the coast of Madagascar the Dutch landed there in 1598.
to make it more simple in the RPG Ambon will function as a very small colony instead of Factory. Where can be traded as determined by the trade rules.
Colonies are under supervision of the ministry of Colonization, the minister of Colonization needs to keep track of finances and adequate defenses, Each colony can be awarded to a noble as symbol of status. De Staten Generaal can appoint a governor of several Colonies for a more local authority. So a governor can easily govern several colonies the size of entire Indonesia.
The formation of a colony will take place when there are 500 colonist, which can be brought there by ship. if within 1 year this has not succeeded the colonization is failed. Native inhabitants have a 50% chance to attack you(A roll shall determine this), so it would be wise to use soldiers for protection.
Each colony shall generate 10.000 Gulden, which will be added to the state treasury. A governor can withhold this but the state most likely will not like that and take actions.

I've got to hand it to you this seems like an excellent idea. I cant wait, is it possible for someone who is for example the Minister of the Colonies, Minsiter of the Navy, Minister of the Army, etc etc.....to be elected Stadthouder?
From this entire list the dude who logged in last was yesterday.
Not so inactive, Also this was a list from months ago when the traffic on this forum was considerably less.
so I think we deserve a chance if it becomes nothing delete it plain and simple.
