    Default The Invasion of Scotland

King Henry V has called upon his Royal Army to gather at York to prepare for the invasion of the Kingdom of Scotland. The king himself arrives long before the army with his personal bodyguard.

OOC: how many Men-at-Arms can I have? Do I get 100 men from every unassigned county?

An army of two thousand Englishmen from York arrive, followed by the personal guard of two hundred men-at-arms. At the front was Duke of York, Richard Plantagenet. He rides forward now to meet with his cousin, King Henry V.

The Duke is shown to the King's tent. Henry comes out and greets Richard.

Richard, good to see you have your men ready. The Royal Army should gather here soon enough. I want to start this campaign as soon as possible, but precaution is always good. Any word about a possible Scottish attack?

Your Majesty, there has been no word about a possible Scottish attack yet. The borders have been rather quiet.

Richard removes his helmet and sets it down for now before speaking further.

Seeing as the Royal Army will be great in strength, it might be prudent to reinforce our forces in Ireland, ensuring they have enough punch to take down the High King and his forces.

OOC: you have 5000 levies, and 100 from every unassigned county.

OOC: I'm not sure if I've counted correctly, but there seems to be a total of 76 counties, and as I'm not sure how many counties are assigned, I reckon there are about 70 unassigned counties.

    That's about right.

That was my intention. The Royal Army consists of 5 000 men, but I already have 7 000 men here. I will send 2 000 of the Royal Army to Ireland, while the rest stays here.

After a couple of days, the Royal Army has gathered in York. King Henry sends 2 000 men to Ireland to reinforce Duke de Verbeeck's army.

Henry orders his troops to prepare to attack the Scots.

With the orders coming in, Duke Richard prepares his troops for the march into the Highlands. He would have the troops be set into perfect marching formation. Then begins his inspection of the troops.

There is little time for that, as a Scottish force is spotted upon the horizon. The duke of Lothian, and the Duke of Moray arrive, leading 4000 men in the vanguard. It is highly likely that there is the Scottish royal army of 5000 men behind them, in close advance.

Decisive English victory against the vanguard:

    English casualties : 375/12,200

    Scottish casualties: 3000/4000

    RP it as you like.

The English Army defends valiantly York from the Scottish Army. King Henry leads the defense at the front line, killing many Scots. The English Longbowmen make short work of the attacking soldiers, while the infantry finishes them off when they get close.

    A letter arrives from Ireland.

To His Majesty the King kf England

    My King,
I am sorry to call upon you so soon again. Kerry has fallen, but the Irish defenders there proved... a challenge to say the least. We have lost over 1,200 troops that day. I do not request the fief or a reward for capturing it, but i do request more forces for my campaign. The Irish High Faker still eludes our men.

    Signed,
Bartholomew de Verbeek, Duke of Somerset and Warwickshire
