Default Anything out there to affect papal favor?

I've found myself playing Orthodox and Pagan and Muslim factions for one reason: because Catholics have to answer to the Pope, and the Pope in SS6.4 is incredibly touchy. Just by waging war on another Catholic state, the Pope warns me not to attack or I get excommunicated, and I have no desire to see all my priests turn into heretics all the time.

Is ther anything that makes the Pope less touchy, or if there's not, where's the scripts that one can go manipulate? I don't think I've ever seen anything on this and it's quite annoying.

Not sure of how to change it, but I believe the reason for it being like this is that history wise that is how the pope would be. If one catholic country attacked another then they would be denounced.

I also think it balances out the wars between the catholic factions, they tend to attack each other early on in vanilla which can mean that the factions not in Europe are largely left alone by them unless a crusade is called. The pope being so strict keeps them from destroying each other early on.

The pope denounced a lot of rulers for interfering with Crusades or opposing his authority, but wars between Catholics happened all the time, Papal interests or not. I actually think that the papal favor system is kind of broken because it means that if a state ever gets excommunicated, they become easy prey and everyone else swarms them and destroys them. In Medieval Europe, different factions were fighting each other all the time and that didn't mean that they were getting squashed with excommunications.

That's why I want to change it. I don't want to be a vulture waiting to swoop down on an excommunicated guy; I just want to attack whoever is a sensible target for war.
