    Default For the Emerald Isle

Seamus studies the city. Behind him thousands of loyal Irish men ready to advance. He looks at his king ever confident in the plan. Cork was key to stopping English movements in the region. Seamus tightened the grip on his bow. Horns blared and the Army advanced within sight of the city. The country's flag waves proudly over head.

As the Irish troops approach the city, the Duke of Cork closes the city gates, and readies the men he has inside. Nobody dreams of betraying the English duke at this time, seeing as the garrison is mostly English and the Irish citizens are placed under strict quarantine.

    Irish Forces:
    5000

    Left Flank:
1000 under Seamus, chosen to attack the left wall.

centre: 3000 under High King Brian, chosen to attack the gate.

Right Flank: 1000 under King Domnall of Munster, chosen to attack the right wall.

    English Troops: 2000 men.

    Right Flank: 500 men

    Centre: 1000 men

    left Flank: 500 men.

Seamus was surprised at being asked to lead an assault. He grips his bow and orders his archers to begin firing at the wall. The infantry are told to advance with the ladders the Archers cover their advance. Seamus sits bow in had firing at men on the wall.

OOC: I know the result of this battle, but I will allow you to RP it.

King Brian orders the general advance with the battering ram towards the gates, while the King of Munster convulses upon the right hand side of the gate. He orders Seamus to advance towards the wall.

Seamus does so at once firing the whole time. Once ladders are in place Infantry begin climbing up. The ram begins battering down the gate.

    OOC: that would be cheating,

The English begin defending the walls with their lives, their heavily armoured infantry holding off the Irish. Meanwhile, the archers fire upon the rammers, while the English dismounted knights defend the gate, barricading it with huge wooden beams. The castle of cork is luckily not as advanced as the mainland English castles, with only one wall and a keep.

The English stand fast, as does the gate. More Irish are being driven from the wall, however, the English are being driven back, albeit extremely slowly.

OOC: sneak into the city from the south? I don't think that's possible, it has huge walls around it. They aren't trapped, they are in their houses

The battle continues, and the gate is broken. However, they rush straight into he english pikemen.

He orders the men to pull back from the gate and fires arrows into the Pike men. The battles on the walls rage on.

The archers at the gatehouse simply greet the Irish archers with volleys of their own. The English longbow men are used to deadly effect, and the Irish archers are earning far more casualties than they are giving

The English keep fighting, with the English longbowmen still raining death on the Irish. They begin to show signs of retreating under the intense strain.

Seamus sees all that's happening. The men on the wall stillresisting heavily. He cals for the men to fall back and regroup outside the archers range. All around that same cry echos throughout the Irish men.

The orders are circulated among Seamus' is men, and a small group of them fall back. The rest are so hyped up in bloodlust that they continue the advance, and begin to push the English of the wall. The English defence begins to collapse, and the duke orders the men to fallback towards the keep.

The English fall back in good order, a small unit of pikes delaying the Irish. They make their stand on the path leading up to the keep.

Seams leads a band of Archers to fire at the Pikes. The rest of the Irish stand back. Mean while Irish infantry look for a path to flank the pikes.

The English pikemen hold long enough for the duke to array his men in defence of the keep, then the pikes retreat into the keep proper.
