    Default Athens mining complex: bugged?

In Athens, I have the upper level mining complex worth 32,000. The building's card says that the mine should give +5000 income. However, when I go into the city details tab, I see only 1,500 income from mining. In all other cities where I have the highest level mine the mining income displayed in the city details tab is correct: 5000 and higher, depending on the traits of the governor. BTW, I checked, it was not the governor of Athens causing the drop from 5000 to 1500.

    A bug?

OK, I think, I found the answer. The number of actual resources vary by province. Simply I lucked out on the other provinces: the amount of resources in those was able to bring my mining income to max. In Athens, however, the amount of resources is limited. I guess, can leave the thread up in case anyone else has the same question.

The number in the description doesn't really tell the whole story. In Athenai, there's only one small vein mining site which doesn't bring in that much money. Compare it to Pella, which has three large vein sites. Now, that's money.

    Edit: Yes, that's correct.

So far, my favourite province mine-wise is Dalmatia. Its mines give 90% of maximum profits, which means 1800 on first level and 4500 on second level. That mine alone is holding my early-game Epeiros campaign from collapsing, giving Pyrrhos leave to roam around the Adriatic and fight at his leasure.

I wonder how much profit this mine would give me if I had a very good miner in my family...

My Governor in Dalmatia is pretty good: close to 6,000 per turn in mining income. It seems, to get mining traits, the governors have to sit in provinces with high level mines + schools. Also, getting "attuned governor" (by sitting in one city a number of turns while no enemy force is threatening the settlement) helps, but that affects trade and tax income I think.

School not required. If a man sits long enough in a province with built-up mines, he will eventually get superior miner-trait, in my experience.

Oh, and add retinue. There is a temple-line (Minerva, Athene Polias) which gives them in abundance. With all these factors together, both Dalminion and Pella can make you well over 7000 mnai per turn from mining alone.

Send the Epeirote heir (one of Pyrrhos's sons) to Pella. He will give you a 20% bonus.
