If he is using an effect similar to bfme then the model will have a plane or 2 crossed planes where the effect will be. The texture will then use alpha channels to make parts of the texture invisible, so you dont have black squares on the model ingame.
Thats how i assume it works on a basic level.

Would be really great if you can make a model of Isildur and Elendil one dayTwo really awesome looking units (I know not necessary for third age, but in some custom battle they would really fit sometimes^^)
Isildur and Elendil models would fit for the DCI: The Last Alliance sub-mod for sure. I'd love to see them too!
paradamed, could you get the wolves animation work with wargs also?
This goes beyond my skills. I merely imported them into a working pack compatible with the TATW animations. I have no skills to scale the animation to fit the wargs skeleton.
