Sorry to hear that, but we just can't make everyone happy.

You were very much in the feedback loop since day one, and like the rest of us, we have no idea what kind of little monster we are creating.

But sentiment aside, the correct way, in my opinion, is to list your dislikes and see where it leads to.

Also there is the 6.0K, and compare the two releases and see where the comparison leads you.

That way, even in not liking the mod, you are helping the process.

To help to make the mod better.

We should have a dislike poll.

And I would start with have a questionnaire, you can either answer in this thread or send me PM's.

    1. What faciton you dislike to fight against?
    2. What faction you dislike to play as?
    3. What weapon do you most dread to face in the battlefield?
    4. What weapon do you least enjoy deploying on the battlefield?
    5. What unit is the least likable to face in the battlefield?
    6. What game functionality (quest, minor prize, guerrilla warfare) you hate the most?

    1. Geothe Amazons for me, they haven't been a problem on my newest campaigns but whenever I do face them I just get decimated before even getting missile troops into range(Maybe I just suck at TW). Factions that use their units in custom battles are just as bad but I usually manually remove them after auto-selecting an army.

    2. I've enjoyed playing as all of them.

    3. The Geothe's thermite jar, personally I've always found it a little too powerful to bother fighting against since even their basic units can easily destroy an experienced army.

    4. Again, same as above, If I had to pick I'd say the Amazon Militia Hoplite, they're not bad troops but there's no real reason to recruit them since the heavy peltasts are better, have cheaper upkeep & can be recruited at the start of a camaign.
(Could I recommend training the Heavy peltasts from the archery range instead?)

    5. I've found the Far Eastern Celts Chain link cavalry to be quite formidable and yet quite amusing when sent against elephants, both units just drop like flies.

    6. Is it bad that despite following this mod for so long I've never actually played one of the quests?

Overall though I've loved pretty much every minute of playing this mod. Its what got me back into Rome on a laptop that could barely handle it & its the reason I'm still here now despite having a (almost) brand new gaming PC. Keep up the good work as always.

    1. Geothe on campaign is quite different from the Custom Battle.

There are a few facets about the campaign the players may not realize.
    a. During the campaign, with the exception of Geothe, only the player faction can own and deploy advanced weapons.
    b. if AI is playing Geothe, the faction is docile and broke and almost harmless except one thermite jar militia unit.
    c. for the current version of Amazons TW, no two factions can possess advanced weaponry at the same time.

    3. The Geothe's thermite jar can be used by the player's Amazon or Pseudo-Amazon faction if the quest is fulfilled. On the campaign mode, the player's faction should rarely (almost never) encounter the thermite jars used by an opposing army. So the custom battle result does not translate to the campaign mode at all.

    4. Great suggestion and observation.

    5. Nothing bad here.

    6. "..Is it bad that despite following this mod for so long I've never actually played one of the quests?..."

No, not at all, if the quest is that easy, the game is over with too fast. Our team believe a great game should be very challenging and always have many windows of opportunities to avert disaster and be able to win.

    In conclusion,

I first would like to thank you for your encouragement, and also want to summarize a few points:

    - Perhaps we should disable the advanced units to be played in the Custom Battle, showcasing advanced units in such mode is a lot like forcing the readers to read a spoiler in a thread.
    - Disabling the advanced units in custom battle will also present a more realistic aspect of the campaign mode, since only one faction can possess the advanced weaponry, it does not make sense to have two sides in Custom Battle to fight each other with such weapons. It really misleads the player on what the campaign is about.

Thank you for your encouragement and the +rep, I wish the entire team can be in TWC to view this.

Before the TWC v-bulletin upgrade and downtime, we have 1,800+ download on one location alone, we have total of over 6,000 downloads even with the technical difficulties we are seeing from various download sites.

In short, the community's support is overwhelming!

So on behalf of the Amazons Total War Mod team: Thanks, Everyone!

Before the previous TWC downtime, I just want to point out some facets about the Amazon heavy peltasts but never had the chance.

So here is my opinion: The units are no doubt very handy, but they also have serious limitations.

Unlike higher grade troops, the Amazon Heavy Peltasts

    - are prone to rout,
    - and offer very weak resistance against a determined cavalry charge.
    - they are also easy target for missile attacks from right side or behind.

Based on discussion with Hyperfyre, we probably will make HP recruitable from javelin range and some other development. According to the original story-line, the HP are members of the Amazon community who are not equestrians and can not handle archery either, but are strong and able to throw javelin.

Following Celestial Shuttle Buddy's approach in Beta, we are micro-updating the 7.0C yet again.

    The changes are:

    1. New female light archers units for most factions., this has finally been converted to true 512x512 from slightly altered vanilla version (as in Amazon Total War 3.0).
    2. female mounted light archers, which are horse archer version of the above.
    3. long bow heavy archers, which are armored version of the above with double long-bows and completely changed from the 7.0B.
    4. Re-animated Parthain, Sarmatian, Scythian Noblewomen.

Units mentioned in #1 and #2 are the most proliferated units in the mod, so these changes will have major impact on the appearance of the game.

Moddb claims that the file is added Feb 27. Where is the most recent version, or is this date wrong?

Moddb links to an updated version on Gamefront.

Moddb shows the first time the revision is uploaded, not the last time the mod file for that revision is changed. The file on Moddb is current (March 15).

Have you considered dedicating one or two releases to sprucing up and expanding the rest of the mod's factions with units from XGM or RTR VII? The Amazons' rosters are expansive, but other factions like Macedon, the Greek Cities (who, IIRC, are supposed to be the "antagonist" faction), and such are all pretty barebones compared to them.

Why would anyone want to be Greek after they played Amazon?

Just kidding! I think this is a great idea.

Feel free to forward me any suggestion as to the replacement.
