Default 77 BC - Twilight of the Republic

Greetings to all. As a member of the TFT/FRRE team it gives me great pleasure to announce/present our latest project: 77 BC - Twilight of the Republic

The founder of this modifcation is a fellow member & friend of mine Salvor Hardin & focuses on a much loved period of Roman history for him, as the title says 77BC.

As you would imagine the game starts in 77BC with the SPQR caught in a dangerous position. Mithridates of Pontus, altough defeated twice before, is mustering another army in an attempt to drive Rome from Asia Minor & become the dominant force in the near East. This is not your only concern, Sertorius, a supporter of the Marius cause has defected from Rome & set up base in Iberia where he has gathered his Legions along with the local tribes he plans his next move.......

Then there is Caesar, awaiting his introduction & a final showdown which will lead to the collapse of the Republic...... or will it? That choice is yours......

Featuring Historical characters such as Sertorius; Pompey; Caesar; Mithridates; Catalina & Spartacus, this is no ordinary mod, this is your chance to change history or simply follow Caesar into greatness.....

Many new features are present in the game such as the Spartacus rebellion.

New factions including The Kingdom of Judea, Nabatean's, Averni, Cantabri, Mauretania, Sertorani & a few more besides .

Most factions will have unique & new units, incorporating new skins.

    Caesar's 13th Legion

This will be an ALL faction playable mod, but the main focus is on the pending power struggle in Rome in which you can have a hand in or sit back & watch as they destroy themselves!!

Well that's all for now. More to follow shortly.

The mod is currently in early beta phase with new skins being worked on & a great campaign script planned.

It will be based up RTR Platinum which uses the RTW 1.5 engine & will incorporate a 4TPY script.

I hope you like our new project & eagerly await your comments.

    Regards
    KA

    !Ave Rex Artorius!

When do you believe your mod will be done?

Or is it "done when it`s done"

Ave Christianus & welcome to 77BC!

The mod will be done.... just kidding!

We have not set a date yet, but I'll discuss this with the team. A large chunk of the work was completed prior to to opening this thread. 60% of the map is complete - this includes new settlements

The Judean Skins are complete & the Romani factions are almost there.

It will not be a long wait, but at this very second I would not like to commit myself.

Is this Salvor Hardin's mod, continueing at TWcenter? That mod was really promising. I hope you'll finish it soon.

Yep, the very same mod as previewed at the RTR Forums. As Salvor is now a member of the TFT/FRRE team, we've all joined forces to help him with this excellent idea & release what we believe will be a very enjoyable game to play.

Hey, King Arthur, as I was passing by, I have decided to post the definitive map of Gaul. Hope you do not mind.

The men in green are the Arverni, by the way.

All the merit for this map goes to Bucellarii and his infinite patience.

what about Tigran the Great? no need to remind that after defeating Mithridates the Romans turn on him and thus Roman- Armenian war started.

New factions including The Kingdom of Judea, Nabatean's, Averni, Cantabri, Mauretania, Sertorani & a few more besides
does that mean we also get the new cities (Tigranokerta )?
    thanks for the info.
and im willing to help with some beta testing

This time period would not be complete without Tigran, of course. And his brand new capital (that has been somehow difficult to add, by the way).

Salvor, i'm impressed i appreciate your efforts!!!
btw you know there was more than one Tigranokerta?
it was total of three + the one that was set as a capital! so it's 4 Tigranocertas all together!
he was like Alexander, building Alexandrias across conquered lands.
you dont have to include all of them of course.

guys, it CTDs for me. right after you choose a faction and try to start a campaign. i have a clean RTRPE 1.4 full + 1.6 patch + MC's 4tpy.
    might 4tpy be causing it?
    any ideas?

Default Re: 77 BC - Twilight of the Republic

Its not the 4tpy, you need to delete a couple of things in order to get it work, here is what Salvor told me to do.

You must extract the file in the RTW folder you have installed RTRPE 1.6. Just make sure that the file map.rwm is not present in your data\world\maps\base folder. If so, delete it. By the way, you might also want to delete the file mod_0.pak in data\packs folder. It is an add-on of this RTRPE version that does not (apparently) affect gameplay but interferes with the interface we added to 77 BC.

I had no idea about that, fortunately . All dictionaries should have a picture of Tigran to illustrate the definition of ego  .

@ Sarkiss - As our Beta Test Team Manager BadLt stated you have to delete some files before play. Delete as above, but also delete the map.rwm from the data/world/maps/campaign/imperial campaign folder. Hopefully you'll now be able to enjoy 77BC!!

yep, did just that. worked ok.
its just Salvor never told me to do it and i couldnt figure out by myself. its all cool now, thanks BadLt

btw, very stable Beta. appart from few minor bugs.

i tried the Armenian campaign. i don't know if you guys still working on it or have it polished already, but it needs A LOT of work on details, and not just that. starting from Tigrans traits and anciliaries, diplomacy, controlled territories, faction tree etc, etc, etc. i drew a list of what in my opinion needs an improvement. i'm not a historian but quite knowledgable on this period of the Armenian history and willing to dedicate some time on research. i could help with some info regarding almost anything on Tigran, IF help needed.
great timeframe and excellent idea! can only imagine what its like to play as Romans.
btw, the mini mod with client kingdoms troops offerings would work perfectly well here. for the Armenians in particular.
there is hell of a lot little (and not just little) things need fixing (im talking exclusively about the Armenians. didnt have time to look at anything else) if someone is actually ready to work on them of course.
like i said, im willing and eager to help within my abilities and knowledge.

    great stuff!!!
