The Count of Rouen, Charles d'Anjou, and his first guests, the Duke of Somerset, the Earl of Kent, and the Baron of Norwich, saddle up for a hunt across the Seine river.

Duke Bartholomew was riding alongside his host. "Oh, the French landscape is ever so beautiful," he remarked.

    Charles snorts with amusement.
"Normandy is wetter than England, mon ami de Verbeek.
The beauty lies down where the rebellion lies."

A large group of Cosmopolitan nobles suddenly race in front of them following a hound, all after a small hare.
The Comte chuckles with further amusement.

"These young Parisians, so full of conceit and bravado they are."

He rode next to the duke. We should be fighting the rebels, not hunting! He thought to himself.

Reminds me of Flanders. My grandfather always used to tell me how beautiful Greece was, but I have never been myself.

    He chuckled.

Aye. As are all city dwellers.

"What a wonder I say! Franks ruling in Constantinople!
De Villehardouin is one of my favorite historians....
Yes, my family down in Naples was very close to your grandfather; I wish I knew him as well."

He pauses for a time, stopping his horse in a clearing to stare out towards the Seine.
"The Breton Duke has contacted me, along with some other Norman lords.
We plan to march south in a grand coalition to put the Occitan in his place.
However, Duke John has requested that we be merciful with punishment, or else he will not march.
    Neither will Champagne and Blois.
If the Gascogne lords join Toulouse, we may need them.
What do you say mon amis?"

It is good that you choose to act. We must hurry, for the longer we leave him the more that will flock to his banner.

    He smiled, and nodded.

My family is indeed an illustrious one... Latin emperors, and a cadet branch of French kings! Look at me now, baron of a small castle. Bah!

    He laughed.

    He laughed.

"Yes, but it is better to wait a little longer for spring.
Besides, it is rude to leave a feast when it is just starting!"

He says that last with a grin.

Suddenly their hound rushes off growling into the foliage, after a sow.

"St. Denis! Our prey has finally appeared!"
He gallops off after the hound, drawing his bow.

The Earl of Kent rushes to ride alongside with the Norman

It's concerning you speak to your fellow nobles before you talk with the King. If we plan to march south we will need his approval; And possible support

    He shrugged.

If we wait for the king, we could be waiting months. Bordeaux and the whole of Aquitaine could have fallen by then.

The Comte comes back, the sow lost momentarily.
"The northern French nobles have always looked towards me for friendship and guidance.
I defy no king, but this is France, mon ami de Gaunt, not England.
Young knights roam free in this vast land, and the king is powerless to stop them."

    He pauses.
"And as the Baron has said, we cannot wait for le roi.
All the way across the channel? If I were le roi, I would appoint a regent to control Paris."

OoC: Oh, I thought I was alone with him

"He gallops off after the hound"
"rushes to ride alongside with the Norman"
    IC:
I'm not saying we don't defend ourselves, Baron, I mean that someone should go to London and get royal approval

It may not be a bad idea. A member of the royal family would be my choice

    He glanced at the french

But remember that King Henry isn't only King of England, he is also Roi de France

D'Anjou peered over at the Cosmopolitans, waiting for another quarry to chase.
"Oui, but they don't think so.
It is simply how things are. Royal laws are different here in France, no matter whether we share a king."

Maybe because of that, is why the Duke of Toulose is rebelling,

    He paused

What do you think of King Henry, Count?

He shrugs and hesitates for a moment.
"Charles gave me these lands that I rule over, and I feel a duty to him as any French lord does, but I do not see any enemy in Henry and so I support the victorious over the ailing."

He looks back to the Seine river.
"We must marshal the forces here in northern France and march quickly. If you lords would like to join us, then you must have your armies cross the channel with haste.
I suppose if we hurry we can still return for the tournament and some feasting."
    He smiles at them.

OOC: We'll just continue the feast and tournament later.

    Moving to the Toulousan thread.
