    Default The Tolousan Rebellion

It was in the early months after the treaty of tours that the duke began rallying men to his cause. Knights making inspirational speeches of Patriotism in French loyalist towns, provoking them to rise against the English whilst the duke gathered his armies and prepared his vassals for war. Then, in the early days of March, the rebellion officially took flight, after duke Raimond of Tolouse flew a Capetian flag above his castle, gathered his vassals and soldiers and marched into Gascony, taking the county of Foix by storm. The duke attracted many different men to his cause, and now they march towards the royal fiefs in Aquitaine and Gascony, and threaten to plunge the whole of France into rebellion .

    The Duke's forces:
    Duchy of Tolouse: 2000 men
    County of Muret: 1000 men
    County of Narbonne: 1000 men

    Total: 4000 rebels

    English Loyalists:
    Duke of Brittany: 3000 men
    Count of Rouen: 875 men
    Earl of Kent: 1075 men
    Baron of Norwich: 500 men

    total: 5450

The rebels are making towards Bordeaux, hoping to seize Gascony before the English know what's happening.

Putting their feast and tournament on hold, the Comte de Rouen Charles d'Anjou and his guests, Baron Robert de Courtenay of Norwich, Duke Bartholomew de Verbeek of Somerset, and Earl Oliver de Gaunt of Kent,
prepare plans to march south against the Occitan uprising in the south.

Duke John VI of Brittany and many other northern French lords are joining also, but only on the condition that the Toulousan Duke is given merciful treatment when he is defeated.

The Norman League, as it is now being called, meets up at Le Mans, along the Sarthe River.
Comte Charles brings 875 men, leaving the rest of his men at home.
The Count of Kent's army of 1,075 men is led to the meeting place.

The Breton Duke and and his allies are arriving now too, with numbers around 3000.

Rolled: 3000. It stays as it is.

I need a clear setup for your right flank, left flank, etc. I'm waiting for you guys to do the pre battle RP, then to PM me the orders. Treat my character and his men as if they are NPC's fighting for you.

The Comte was in a light gambeson, colored with Angevin and Norman colors.
"Salut, Comte de Gaunt! I am pleased to see you and our friend de Courtney have made it in time!
We must march towards Aquitaine with haste!
We will plan a battle when we near the enemy!"

The Duke of Brittany walks up.
    "Charles, les autres sont prêts."
"Puis, nous marchons!" says the Comte in response.
He turns back to the Earl as the Duke walks away.
"We march now it seems; come, ride with me."
    He mounts his horse.

The camp was already dispersing around them.

Earl Oliver was already mounted. His horse honored his banner, a white arabic stallion. Fast and sturdy

Comte, do you know how many men do we have?

The Comte rode a typical French courser.
The Comte looks around at all the marching men around them for a moment, with an expression that said he never spent too much time thinking about it. "Oh, maybe around 4000? And with the addition of your men, we could have up to 5000."

The Earl was rather concerned that the Frenchman hadn't taken the matter seriously enough.
War was War, the most serious and tragic of all things

    Ah, well

    He nodded

We should prepare a battle plan, Comte, and we should design who'll lead each flank and who will have the honor to fight in the center
