Baron Robert de Courtenay disembarks off his ship in the harbour, and makes his way towards the castle with 50 retainers.
As it is the Feast Day of Saint Scholastica, the first arrivals of the coming festivities are invited to join Comte Charles in the Rouen Cathedral for a very glamorous mass.
Duke Bartholomew de Verbeek disembarks in the harbor, and he and 50 knights ride out towards the castle, banners held high. Several men have trumpets, and announce the Duke's arrival by blowing the horns.

Having received the message of the feast and joust, Count Oliver and his wife headed for the County of Rouen
The Baron attends, exhausted.
The Duke doesn't even take the time to get out of his armor, only giving his helmet to his squire. Then, he enters the great cathedral, makes a cross and walks further in, his knights trailing behind him.

Oliver, a very pious man, drops to his knees as makes the signal of the cross as soon as he enters the Cathedral; And the proceeds to take sit
The Baron, the Duke, and the Earl are shown to aisles placed according to their stature, seated along with mostly French nobles.
As they are seated, the mass begins, and a magnificent choir is accented with pipes and horns that echo throughout the massive cathedral.
The Comte can be seen far in the front, in the first aisle, next to the French king, praying fervently, eyes closed, along with a large set of nuns.
A few Cosmopolitan nobles whisper impiously about the Comte praying for a wife that will bear him a male heir.

The baron, whom is pious enough to attend church every Sunday, but not so zealous as to grovel, simply bows his head to the direction of the altar and takes a seat.
Duke Bartholomew joins the prayer, mumbling the words.

OOC: the French king is the English king.
The baron mumbles away.
The Mass proceeds further, equally as ambitious as it goes along.
The old Archbishop of Rouen, Louis I d'Harcourt, sits quiet in his seat on the altar nearly the entire mass, until he finally struggles forward towards the podium for a sermon.
His words are soft spoken, slow, and shaky, as he is obviously close to death, but he is still clearly heard by the congregation as he speaks about Saint Scholastica, nuns, children, and education, all in relation to a hopeful future for the Kingdoms of France and England.
Some minor French nobles are evidently annoyed by the notion, scowling in far corners of the cathedral.
After the words, Duke Bartholomew said, "Amen to that."

OOC: Note: When the mass is over, the actual official festivities begin. I will open a new thread for it in the Realm.
We will move there after the Cathedral RPing. I'll let you know when.
Oliver carefully listened to the priest; He found the scriptures full of wisdom, he had considered becoming a theologist, but his father didn't allow it.
Still he was thrilled about studying the Bible, so every mass he attended he tried to pay attention
The communion rite eventually comes, and slowly, the entire congregation forms lines to receive the eucharist from the Archbishop and a few priests.
After the entire assembly has circulated back to their seats, the concluding rite begins.
The deacon, says "Ite, missa est" and the congregation responds with "thanks be to god."
The recession begins, and the choir takes up another hymn as the Archbishop, the priests, the deacon, and the altar boys leave with the relics.

Radec, in his Normal Red, black, and grey attire shows up, freedmen as he is, walking in unannounced and with no fan fare. (by walking in, I assume the Gaurds let me in promptly after searching me for weapons because of the feast)
OOC: We're in mass still, and that is open to commoners and nobles alike anyway.
You're going to have to feign nobility to get into the feast itself though, but the tournament is open to all.
Just wear some fancy clothes and look clean enough.![]()
OOC: I can roll with that.
