uh read the reviews herp derp 1% difference, margin of error when testing said products is 3% that means the Benefit Windows 8 brings in game performance is so tiny it doesnt even counter the Margin of error during a test. and at any DECENT resolution aka 1680x1050 or about you end up with 0% difference across the board. Unless you love WIndows 8's Metro interface id just stick with Windows 7

    Obviously 0 change

Well I wanted some confirmation from our fellow members who are runing their games on win8.Im not inclined to take for granted the performance is almost identical.
I saw most of the videos on youtube on the matter with actual game footage-side by side comparison -and the difference was a bit higher for most of the latest games..and you guessed it...it was in the favour of windows 7...about 5-10 fps more.I dont want a notable improvement in order to upgrade...but I definetely dont want the opposite.

theres no real reason to upgrade WIn 8 has Direct X 11.1 but then again so few games are DX11 its rather ho hum, i honestly hate the new interface love the under the hood improvements however, from what i remember a few friends talking about Windows 8 doesnt like some games period right now. Can't remember which ones i was half asleep in the teamspeak but regardless both OSes are pretty much identicle, just use whatever one you like better obviously switching to Win 8 costs money, and right now i dont see the incentive to switch.

none of them barely any games use Direct X 11 as is, 11.1 is an incremental update that Microsoft is hold hostage to WIndows 8 to try and get ppl to switch but no surprise just as DX10 took awhile to catch on so did DX11, DX10.1 was featured in maybe 1-2 games i doubt Direct X 11.1 will see any support what so ever.

Weren't the expected increases going to come a bit later with software and hardware revisions outside of MS' control?

I thought Win8 allowed for faster lines of communication in some key areas like transfer rates and CPU/GPU latency?

It's overall a smoother experience, but nothing that would affect games. They're simply past that point in terms of the power it takes. There's a small difference, but it's negligible.

having played with Windows 8 and Windows 7 on the same rig its had 0 impact on any games i tested at the time, including Battlefield 3, Shogun 2, Dragon Age II, Witcher 2 off the top of my head.
