Cannot for the life of me get this mod to work

I've spent the last two days trying to get Rage of the Dark Gods to work. I initially attempted to get it to work with a steam version of Kingdoms, then with a non-steam version. I followed Giganticus' pain free installation: Torrented the 1.5 file, ran all three parts of the installation in the main ME2TW directory, applied the 1.5.1 patch, extracted the quick fixes, and nothing. I even used Werebears tips (deleted .string.bin files, etc.)

Whenever I click on the shortcut and run as administrator, it says "Cannot find Kingdoms.exe" and doesn't work. The farthest I've managed to get in all of this is that I can start a campaign, and then whenever I end my first turn and it rolls back around to me, it crashes saying it's encountered an "unspecified error".

I've uninstalled, re-installed, and re-downloaded everything. I'm running on Windows Vista, and nothing seems to work here. I'm beginning to feel the workings of the blood gods wrath in my frustration. I just really want to sit down and enjoy this amazing mod, but it's not working.

Please, for the love of all of the gods, help me.

Disabled the UAC?

Look for a tutorial, how to disable UAC and then try again.

Also, which version are you using? I recommend using the Gigantus one.

I disabled the UAC and reinstalled onto a steam version using the filed Giganticus indicated. I applied the torrented Patch 1.5.1 and all quick fixes in numerical order. I then extracted the english translation and set the Kingdoms Launcher to steamapps/common/medieval2totalwar/mods/Rage_of_Dark_Gods.

Now what I'm facing is a startup which is immediately greeted with a "fatal error" message and crash. What do?

Umm... you should try to use the alternative launcher and see. The steam one is problematic at least.... can you play vanilla?
