August von Hesse-Homburg stared at the war declaration in his hand with disgust and disbelief. How could anyone come up with such an idiotic idea? To declare war and kill millions of people, possibly destroying the German Empire itself to avenge one man, who wasn't even German! For him it had been clear from the beginning that this new Kaiser was bad news for every German, but this was just a step to far! August stood up and looked out of the window thinking of how on earth the Prussian Army was to take on Russia, Britain and France at the same time. It was beyond him.
On the other hand, he thought sitting back down again, if the German Empire managed to win this war the rewards would be beyond measure. But how? That was the only thing that concerned him, as well as the only thing he needed to worry about as Prussian Kriegsminister.

I wanted to start something new so I thought this might be a good idea. If you like it tell me and I'll write regular and longer updates. If not write what I can do to improve. Thanks for reading!

"No", he screamed. "Noo!"It wasn't possible! He didn't want to believe it. His brother dead.... "Why?", he sobbed. "Out!" His secretary gave him one last pitiful look and then hurried away. August stared down at the floor and tried to regain his composure. In the few weeks that had passed as the war started, the Germans had been immensely successful on both the east and the west front. They had overrun Belgium and taken parts of France. In Russia they had taken two of the Czars most important cities, but during these fights in the east his brother had been....killed by enemy artillery fire. He let himself fall into his chair and he began writing a letter to his wife.

Dear Sofia,
We are winning! At the battle of Flanders our troops fought valiantly and I am truly proud of them . We received little resistance and decided to march half of our force toward the front of the city and directly toward the enemy, while I took the other half around and shot the enemies flank to pieces. After that the battle was won and we simply overran the French killing nearly all of them and taking the City in the process. However, I also have a bad piece of news for you: my brother, Karl Albrecht, is dead, killed by Russian peasants. I do not no exactly who is responsible however I am determine to find them and make them pay. Today I visited the men in the trenches to raise their morale. The conditions they live in are terrible and I thank god that I have commandeered a large mansion close to our strategy headquarters. Soon, after we have finished recruiting new men, we will march on Paris, so I may not be able to write to you for some time. I love you and our children and hope to join you for Christmas!

One thing that could be interesting is to keep a casualty counter and perhaps take some screenshots; I found the former to be absolutely astonishingly exciting since the figures can actually go quite high.

Could you tell me why his wife is called Sofia? Actually, it is also the name of Franz Ferdinand's spouse, Sophie Chotek. Or is it random in the story?

Yep I will try to add screenshots. Thanks for all the praise! His wife is called Sofia because I wanted a German name and my family is German, so I named her after my grandmother.
