    Default V for Vendetta

Is anyone else looking forward to this movie?? It looks like a cross between George Orwell's masterpiece "1984", and Either "Batman" or "the Matrix."
Basically, its based on an 80's comic book series, and set in the UK. Britain has become a totalitarian state, much like in 1984, and the protaganist, called V, is basically trying to blow up the government and bring about a revolution.
I havent read the comics, (apparently the writer, Alan Moore, has withdrawn his name from the movie) but apparently it is pretty faithful to them (at least they didnt re-set it in the US)
The film stars Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman and John Hurt, and produced by the Wachowski brothers

something tells me this film will cause a lot of controversy, as the main character will be classed as a "terrorist" by some people. Expecting uproar in the US, which is always a good thing.

I look forward to this film immensely, and hope it fuels the fire on the debate around the war on terror. I mean V, from what I have seen, blows up things, and dabbles with ideas from guy fawkes (which u learn from the official site). what more do u want?

If the film can stir up some debate then that is definitly a good thing, but i'm worried that some of it may be too close to the mark, for instance, one scene has a london Underground train packed with explosives. These sort of things make Daily Mail readers have miniature strokes.
Also, apparently there is a lot of stuff blaming the US for Britain becoming a fascist state (pics of Guantanamo, Iraq war etc) so expect the American right to be up in arms, labelling the film "pro-terrorist".

Excellent. The more strokes that are suffered by Daily Mail readers, the better - the more crippled they become, or the greater the number of them killed by their pompous apoplexy, the more air there will be about to be breathed by real people.

Who can blame him, after "League of Extraordinary Gentleman"!? i quite liked "From hell" though
Anyway, the co-writer of the "V for Vendetta" stories has backed the film and said its very, very good, and faithfull to the original.

I hate going to cinema's, but i might have to make an exception for this movie

also i can recomend watchmen(possibley the best comic ever), and the killing joke(the best joker story ever)
    both by alan moore,

and if you have enough spare change electra assassin by frank miller and bill synchowich is pure awsome (hmm must read that for the 10,000 time later)

I have a semi-bad feeling about it just because it is made by the guys who made the matrix, Wachowski bros (or not anymore one of them had a sex change operation and now they're just the creators of the matrix ya know since they cant really use "bros" no more). Anyway those guys are weird. The last two Matrix's tried so hard and in the end didn't answer crap and it was just a philosophy laced roller coaster movie with no real substance. I get an almost similar feeling from this. Like in the end the message and/or concept is not going to be that deep, or it's gonna try to hard to be too deep and end up being stupid.

yeah, but the original matrix film did have some depth... and here they are actually dealing with quality material. they are serious fanboys, so they probably won't take many liberties. From what i've heard so far, i've not really got any problems with the changes.

And Alan Moore hasn't made any specific claim about this film, as far as i've heard. he has disassosciated himself from all film versions, to the extent he won't take royalties from them! so that doesn't mean anything for this film.

i DO NOT want to see this movie
it looks like trash, and the wachowski brothers lost me after The Matrix: Revolutions, which had no revolution and only about 15 inside the matrix
it also looks a preach political movie, and natalie is ugly with short hair

Well I'm not going to watch it because its a "Super-hero/comic book" movie and there are too many of them. Daredevil was great, and Spiderman good, but the ones that followed seem to try a me too approach and follow the exact same storyline.

    Troll! give him a warning!

besides, V is a freaking Alan Moore comic, which makes it immediately cool (and that's a Euro speaking, ie one which is not *immediately* fan of comics, being also subjected to both european "Bds" and japanese "mangas", ie having 3X the choice)
