mods dont work?

Hey, it appears that my rome mods aren't working. I have patched to 1.5 and bi to 1.6 and installed europa barbarorum and res gestae (second was to check if it was just eb). I should add that i'm on windows 7 64.
Also, i've got mods on medieval 2, empire, shogun and warband that work fine. I was thinking of uninstalling but i'm wondering if this is just to do with rome itself rather than a bad install.

Are EB and RG modfoldered or not?

Can you still play vanilla?

Yes, they're both mod foldered to my knowledge.
Vanilla seemed to play perfectly fine before and after I tried to install mods.
