Default Dornish Troops in AR battles

    Hello all,

Recently, I have been playing a hotseat of my Fire and Blood submod where I control all the factions, minus Bolton, Frey, Yronwood, and Hightower, in a battle for the Iron Throne.

It is hugely enjoyable, but one thing I have noticed is that the Dornishmen are AWFUL in AR battles.

Is it just me, or do they seem to be at a significant disadvantage? In field battle, their cavalry is somewhat redeeming but in hotseats (which are AR only) they seem nigh on useless!

Their spearmen are quite good, better then normal spearmen, but worse then armored spearmen and armored swordsmen. Dornish infantry is on par with armored spearmen but worse then armored swordsmen. Yronwood and Lothaki? infantry are decent but I believe still weaker then armored swordsmen.

Cavalry in general is bad in autoresolve.

    All of what Dux said

They are by no means useless, disadvantage? Definitely, but its not that major.
That, until Renly comes knocking with his bloody greatswords...

Plus I'm pretty sure they are cheaper so you can send masses of armies with them.

I noticed this as well, when I played in real time with Dorne, the units are very easy to use and usually are victorious, but even with stacked odds they lose in AR. Does AR take stuff like unit speed into account?

    AR is pretty flawed, sometimes.

However, there`s a stat called secondary hitpoints which are only taken into account in AR and can make units better in AR. In the 0.53 those aren`t used, but we`ll make sure to use them in the 1.0.

AR values highly armor and numbers. Since Dornish troops have the same numbers of the others, but less armor, they are gonna lose in autoresolve. This is also the reason because cavalry and archers doesn't do very good in autoresolve.
It's only after you have lost everything, that you are free to do anything.

Dont forget that attack is also weighed in quite heavily, (missile attack for archers apparently, for westeros at least)
Big thing about archers are that they are very cost-ineffective, still beats cav hands down tho
