So I just noticed that my C: drive has only about 28 GB of free space. I've got Windows 7 and most of my programs on C:, plus Steam. My D: drive which is an identical 320GB HD has mostly got all the non-steam games on it. Then I have a 2TB drive with vast amounts of differents "data" that I won't go in on now.
But with the upcoming Hitman on Tuesday (read somewhere that it will require 24GB of HD space :o), my C: is fast filling with data. None of the Steam games installed are games that I'd like to uninstall, even though I seldom play them. The problem is that more and more games like to activate through Steam, which obviously causes a problem when all the games are on the same drive.
So is there any way to a few of the installed games onto another drive? I heard that when installing a new game, you get to select where to install it. This is something I've never noticed, and I will definately do this for Hitman Absolution. But 28GB isn't much and once in a while Windows displays the free space on "my computer" as red, so moving a few of the Steam games to another drive would be sound. However, is this even possible without first uninstalling the game and then reinstalling it on another drive?
I read this and the way I see it, as long as I get another Steam folder somewhere else, using the same technique I should be able to move some of my games there.
I was also linked this and it seems a viable option, albeit one I haven't ever played around with, simply moving it around "for real" would be a better if possible.![]()
