Unresponsive Launcher

Hey how's it going, i've an issue with launching RS II. It doesn't seem to respond after i click 'Play Roma Surrectum II'.

I downloaded the 2.5 from Paedric's link on the main page, to a new folder at C:\Games\Roma Surrectum II, since i had to get a new copy of Rome from Steam very recently and the instruction thread recommended a duplicated folder. After downloading i chucked the installer into that file, unpacked everything, and then copied the files to my original steam bought RTW folder at C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Rome Total War Gold.

I redirected the desktop shortcut from the launcher at C:\Games\Roma Surrectum II to the launcher in the RTW folder. I'm on Windows Vista something or other.

Here's my problem: when I click 'Play Roma Surrectum II' on the launcher nothing happens, ever. The buttons all still do their light up slightly to indicate their highlighted thingy, i can even select the different Rome TW exe or Rome BI exe etc. However everything is unresponsive. The music doesn't change, and i can't even exit the launcher. The task manager indicated 'Running'.

I'd greatly appreciate if you could help. My apologies if this has already been answered somewhere in the bowels of the forum.

Make sure you click yes to the Steam setting at the launcher mate...

I should have mentioned that, sorry, I've done all the steam stuff, make sure its logged in etc etc. When I try 'NO' steam, I get the could not find Steam, but when I try with Steam 'YES', it goes all Han Solo Empire Strikes Back, nobody's home.

No worries but that's strange...you should try a clean install maybe...the steam is always tricky with mods buddy... I wish I could be more of a help...but I always install in a completely different folder and partition my Rome mods and have mo problems(most of the time)
From my experience 2.5 launcher has problems also...

I have the same problem, the launcher just doesn't respond, and I've tried reinstalling 3 times.

Anyone at all know how to possibly fix this?

how did you fix it please? i can sometimes get it to ask whether i have selected my faction.

My problem specifically is i can interact with the menu fully however apon clicking play it will ask "whether i have selected the faction i want to play with this time". On clicking n it will just take me back to menu as you'ld expect, but on yes it will do nothing adn the launcher will then be completely unresponsive on every button, however i can still type, tick boxes and use drop-downs.
